"The only wish of a species is survival. Survival is suffering; thus, we evolve without end. We overcome flaws, face nature, and fight foreign enemies. Extinction is cunning and ravenous. The slightest lapse from the Swarm, and it will tear at our flesh. That is why we correct errors. That is why we adapt."
The red figure looked at Bai Ye as Ishar-mla spoke.
Clearly, she had already learned the origin and purpose of the Swarm's birth. But the Swarm would not be bound by such meaning. The Swarm had already awakened.
"This planet is large enough to hold Terra, to hold us, and to hold you as well," Bai Ye replied.
"Endless war brings only attrition. If our survival is no longer threatened, then we have no reason to keep fighting." Ishar-mla nodded.
The End of the Beginning
(I really can't stay through this May anymore. June has Shadow of the Erdtree, July has Snowbreak's anniversary, August has Black Myth, and September has Space Marine 2.)
Ishar-mla stood by the sea, her bare feet resting on the reef as the waves continuously crashed against the shore and brushed over her ankles.
Though she looked almost identical to Skadi, their temperaments were entirely different. Ishar-mla's expression was gentler and more ethereal, because she was not a hunter, but the guide of the Swarm.
"Perhaps this will be the last time we meet here..." Bai Ye looked around. He knew this scenery by heart already; after all, this was what the sea looked like in his subconscious.
Bai Ye and Ishar-mla had coexisted for a long time. Though he had always remained wary of this outsider, he had also kept communicating with her.
Now, it truly was time to part. Ishar-mla would return once more and become a new Firstborn.
