Yong Province Pass / Dragonspine Ridge

Yong Province Pass originally consisted of 107 border cities arranged across the natural barrier. Its sixty-ninth city was Stone Lake, which housed mines, medicinal fields, beacon towers, and an inn assigned to Yu Sheng. 83

The pass was seized by demon forces and subsequently became known as Dragonspine Ridge. Its cities continued operating under demon supervision, while laborers gained regular work hours and protection from the harmful blood qi of the mines. 127 137 152

The province’s traditional hierarchy placed the Mountain God and Night Patrol God at its summit, followed by older Nascent Soul prodigies, the five foremost rising talents, and late-stage Golden Core loose immortals. 166

History

Immortal Family Control

Before the demon uprising, the Yu Family controlled Yong Province Pass and used it as a trial ground for Young Immortal Scions and their disciples. Successful trainees could later inherit comparable official positions and resource territories within the imperial court. 83

The pass was rich in Blood Spirit Stones, Crimson Heart Flowers, medicinal fields, and mines. Its dangers also created opportunities for cultivators to obtain merit through guarding beacon towers, slaying enemies, and capturing demons. 83

Although the Demon-Slaying Division hunted demons across Yong Province, the Qi and Yu Families’ competing authority limited their cooperation. The Yu Family bore particular political damage after Yong Province Pass fell, as the pass had long remained under its control. 168

Fall of Yong Province Pass

Demon forces captured Yong Province Pass after the deaths of Yu Family city lords and numerous Young Immortal Scions. By Demon King decree, Cloud Dragon Demon Lord and Crimson Sash Demon Lord became two of the three rulers meant to jointly govern the conquered pass. 127

The occupation marked the first time demons had openly seized and retained territory within Yong Province. Demon banners replaced the former city authorities, and demonfolk who had hidden in the mountains began entering the cities openly. 127 188

The border situation became more dangerous after the capture. What had once been an informal training ground for Liang and Great Shun disciples risked becoming a conflict involving the Immortal Families themselves. 155

Expansion into the Nine Prefectures

Dragonspine Ridge’s demon forces later attacked Frost Cloud Prefecture, killing three Loose Immortal ancestors and demonstrating that the pass was no longer merely a defensive frontier position. 174

After Lin Shu became recognized as the Young Demon King, he issued the Devour Moon Demon King Decree to the demons scattered across Yong Province:

“Follow me. Seize Yong Province.” 213

The decree prompted coordinated demon incursions into dozens of counties in Anren Prefecture. Demon forces entered cities with little resistance, planted their banners in county yamen, and openly declared their intention to drive out the Immortal Sects. 215

Anren Prefecture’s Seizure

During the conflict surrounding Su Jingci’s execution, over ten thousand demon soldiers and dozens of Golden Core great demons entered Anren Prefecture City. 216

After defeating He Wanbai and killing Yu Tongxuan, Lin Shu planted four Moon-Devouring Demon Banners around Anren Prefecture and formally claimed the city. The former Demon-Slaying Division was renamed the Demon-Suppression Division, becoming an independent force under his rule. 217
