Background / History
The Yu Family is a Half-Life Immortal lineage whose members are regarded as Mountain Gods. Its standing is sufficient that Yu Sheng initially believes Lin Shu, through his bond with her, can be treated as half a Yu Family member and gain access to the Immortal Sect. 38
The family arrived in Blackwater City in a convoy of wind-borne carriages to retrieve Yu Sheng. Their elders identified her as a member of Yu Qintian's branch, but deemed her congenital deficiency a severe limitation and largely treated her with indifference. Yu Qiheng nevertheless brought her to Yong Province Pass and provided part of her inheritance. 80 81
At Yong Province Pass, the family controlled major local resources and assigned its younger Immortal Scions responsibility for mines, medicinal fields, and border defenses. 83 Its authority later suffered a major blow when Yong Province Pass fell, Yu Qiheng was killed, and the Mountain God Mirror was lost. 123 128
