Hardly any plants could grow there, and the sky was covered by clouds that seemed as though they would never disperse.

The occasional acid rain could make some Lesser Demons shed a layer of skin.

On Layer 181's barren land, however, there were vast numbers of Demons.

Apart from the few high-ranking Demons who had established towns across the plains, there was only one main city, Absurd City.

The main city was the town of the local Demon Lord.

Large numbers of Demons and visitors from other worlds gathered there.

The Demon Lord of this layer was called the Clown Emperor.

He was a Demon Lord who had evolved from a Clown Demon.

The evolutionary paths of Demons came in every strange variety imaginable.

Even among the common Lesser Demons, there were five or six different kinds.

And there were even more Formal Demons that evolved from those Lesser Demons.

More than a dozen varieties were common.

Uncommon ones were even more numerous.

When advancing to high-ranking Demons, some would transform into entirely new forms, while others chose to remain unchanged.
