On the Absurd Plains, Naimus, clad in a black robe, walked ahead, with the Clown Demon following behind him.
Naimus was carefully sensing the changes brought about by completing his advancement to a high-rank Demon.
The first was his stats.
Naimus's stats had ultimately risen to 902.
However, Naimus was not particularly worried about his stats.
Back when he was a Variant Demon, Naimus had possessed very few traits.
Whether it was hiding deep within the soul where he was difficult to detect, or his exceptionally rapid stat growth, those had merely been traits and had not condensed into characteristics.
Yet now, after advancing to a high-rank Demon, those traits had finally converged and formed a characteristic.
His stat-related characteristic was called—"Marginal Increase": when a certain inner driving force was continuously invested, the benefit of each stat increase would grow ever higher, and the stat cap would become three times the normal limit.
This was Naimus's characteristic in that regard.
Simple and straightforward, with no additional abilities.
It was not too different from his time as a Variant Demon.
Yet that was precisely the greatest difference.
Because for most people, stat growth followed diminishing marginal returns.
That was, under unchanged conditions, the phenomenon in which the additional benefit or output produced by continued investment in a given factor gradually decreased.
It was not as though no Variant Demons in the Abyss had ever broken through and become high-rank Demons.
Those Variant Demons generally possessed twice the stats of Formal Demons at the same rank, which was 200.
However, after advancing into high-rank Demons, the inflation effect on their stats rapidly diminished.
First, high-rank Demons themselves possessed a stat inflation effect, so their stat cap was 1,200, exceeding the 1,000 of human Golden Breeds.
Second, the higher one's stats rose, the
