Kurenai Yuhi's words.
Made Naruto's steps falter slightly.
They also drew the attention of Shikaku, Inoichi, Choza, Morino Ibiki, and the others in the tent. More precisely, this was a question they cared deeply about, too. Naruto had once been the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki and had lived in Konoha for a full twelve years. The Jonin knew all too well what kind of treatment he had received during that time. Kurenai in particular had a deep impression of the words Naruto had spoken with boundless fury on his face the day he defected, when she pursued him alongside Kakashi, Might Guy, Asuma, and the others.
Naruto's anger, Naruto's grievances, Naruto's hatred.
He had poured it all out that day.
At least, that was how it had seemed from Kurenai's perspective.
She was a woman whose personality made her one of the gentler, kinder Ninja in their ranks. She truly feared that, after destroying Konoha, Naruto might slaughter the people living there—especially certain individuals. Kurenai absolutely did not want to see that happen. She wasn't thinking of the ordinary civilians; Asuma Sarutobi alone was the person she cared about most.
If Naruto really did seek revenge against them,
Kurenai couldn't imagine what that scene would look like.
Wouldn't Konoha become a living hell?
"My attitude? Heh. I've said this before: I chose to leave Konoha for reasons beyond my twelve years of experience living there. Of course, that was one of the main reasons, but it wasn't the only one. If you're asking whether I harbor resentment, then yes, I do. I won't deny it, and I have no interest in pretending otherwise. But I won't let those experiences drive me to do anything excessively violent or cruel. If you're worried I'll take indiscriminate revenge when the time comes, you needn't be.
