Ueno Kei stood before a large group of ninja with a slightly awkward expression. Before him was only a large desk, behind which he stood alone. Across from him stood more than a dozen ninja with varying auras, but all of them were at least special jonin.

They all stared intently at Ueno Kei with gazes that seemed perfectly normal yet were clearly appraising him. It made him feel uncomfortable all over, especially the female ninja in a trench coat with mesh armor underneath, who watched him with an amused expression.

Her look was like a snake that had found its prey, causing Ueno Kei to unconsciously avert his eyes from hers.

Still, after so many years of trials in the Anbu, that discomfort had lasted only a moment. The reason Ueno Kei was here today was naturally for the meeting concerning the Chunin Exams.

After giving a few opening instructions, the Third Hokage had vanished.

The rest had all been handed over to Ueno Kei. Of course, being the chief examiner did not mean he had to formulate every detail himself. He was merely responsible for overseeing everything.

After all, the examiners for the first round, the second round, and even the final examination, along with the contents of their tests, had already been decided.

Ueno Kei only had two duties. First, coordinate and work with each examiner. Second, during the final examination, receive important guests from the various nations—including the Kazekage, one of the Five Great Nations' village leaders, who had already confirmed his attendance.

Of course, he was only receiving them. The Third Hokage would still have to meet them personally in the end. Ueno Kei was not qualified to stand as an equal before the leader of a village, not even as the Third Hokage's disciple.
