Background and History

Tsunade attended the Ninja Academy alongside Sosuke, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru. Hiruzen Sarutobi later chose her, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru as his disciples 2 9.

During the war, Tsunade developed medical ninjutsu and proposed placing medical ninjas in mission squads and establishing a training system for them. Her proposals gained support among Konoha shinobi 134. After she, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru survived a battle with Hanzo, he named them the Konoha Sannin 145 156.

Tsunade gave her younger brother Nawaki a family necklace in support of his dream of becoming Hokage. After his presumed death, she continued commanding a Land of Rain stronghold, preparing its defenses against Sunagakure while struggling with her grief 139 170. Nawaki was later revealed to be alive 383 421.

Appearance

Tsunade has brown eyes and wears her golden hair in a ponytail. A purple diamond is visible on her forehead before she activates the Yin Seal 5 212 657.

Personality

Tsunade is protective of her comrades and family. She scolds Nawaki for going to the battlefield alone but ultimately accepts his decision to fight 162. When Orochimaru proposes killing the critically injured Jiraiya to escape a Rock Ninja siege, she confronts him and insists they leave together 353. She is also quick to rebuke Jiraiya's jokes or insensitive remarks 66 118.
