When Sasori made his decision, a trace of relief flashed in Chidong's eyes, and a satisfied smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.
Minato, standing nearby, nodded lightly in approval.
Aizen glanced at everyone present, the corner of his mouth lifting as he spoke softly.
"Now that everything is confirmed and ready, let's begin our plan."
At Aizen's words, everyone's expressions grew solemn, and a sharp glint flashed in their eyes.
The wind swept across the vast expanse of yellow sand, making it rustle through the air.
In Sunagakure, shrouded in swirling dust, a number of the village's senior shinobi had gathered inside a domed building at its very center.
"Creak!"
The meeting room doors opened, drawing everyone's gaze.
"Sorry, everyone. I was held up by a few things, so I'm late. I'm sorry for the wait."
A loud, booming voice rang out. Chidong stood in the doorway, his burly frame topped by an apologetic smile. He nodded to everyone in the meeting room in turn.
The Sand Ninja present nodded back, smiling in understanding.
"Don't tell me you had a fight with Yuno, Chidong. A man should be more broad-minded."
Some shinobi who knew Chidong well teased him.
At that, Chidong laughed and waved his hand, quickly denying it.
That only made everyone find it more amusing, and they all laughed. For a moment, the somber atmosphere in the meeting room eased.
Just then, Chiyo, seated to one side, coughed softly. She helped Chidong out of his awkward position, and everyone quickly sobered up.
After all, the Sand Ninja leaders present knew that Chidong was close to both of the village's advisors, Chiyo and Ebizo.
Joking was one thing, but it wouldn't do to have Chiyo take offense and think they were picking on Chidong.
