Half an hour later, in another of Lex's secret laboratories.
Alec looked at his bandage-wrapped limbs, his expression turning bitter.
"Don't look so glum. If you don't treat those scrapes from the wind, you'll be stuck showing off those scars for the rest of your life."
As he spoke, Dilos placed a ping-pong-ball-sized piece of Blue Kryptonite in Alec's hand. "This can suppress your abilities within a three-meter radius, so you won't be blasted to ashes by the energy inside you."
Looking at the blue-glowing stone in his hand, Alec finally understood why he had been in so much pain whenever he moved away from Dilos. Still, he was puzzled. "What is this? A crystal? And how did you know my abilities would kill me?"
"It's artificially synthesized." For personal reasons, Dilos didn't want to tell Alec about Kryptonite yet, so he could only lie. The meteorites the people of Smallville had seen were all Green Kryptonite, and almost no one had ever encountered rare forms like Blue Kryptonite. So Alec didn't doubt Dilos's words.
"As for how I knew? I have equipment here that detected how unstable the energy you emit is." Dilos lied without a second thought, yet somehow his lies sounded entirely plausible. Combined with the mysterious and powerful connections he occasionally revealed, the circumstances left Alec with no room for suspicion.
"Just stay here and rest. I have a few things to take care of outside." Dilos headed for the exit, but before he left, he added, "Don't worry. The staff will take good care of you."
"Thank you!"
As Dilos reached the doorway, he suddenly heard Alec call out.
The corner of Dilos's mouth lifted. "You're welcome."
With that, he quickly left...
Meanwhile, Agent Hand and her team had already received reinforcements from S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters.
