"How are you feeling after resting?"
In the X-Men's infirmary, Dilos drew blood from Qin Jiayin as he asked, "Do you still feel exhausted?"
"I'm all right. I just feel a little weak."
Some color had returned to Qin Jiayin's pale face. Her eyes swept over a pocket on Dilos's coat, and she asked softly, "Will technology really develop that terrifyingly fast in the near future?"
"Definitely."
As Dilos placed the blood sample in an analyzer he had prepared, he replied, "The technology humanity already has is terrifying to most Mutants. It's just that both the Brotherhood and the X-Men have people who are practically mobile nuclear weapons, so those with bad intentions don't dare make a move."
"Charles is developing technology too, but he's still far too short on resources. On top of that, most of what he has goes toward the students and teachers at this school. So compared with humanity, the Mutants are still developing far too slowly."
"So things have already gotten this bad."
Qin Jiayin's little face fell. "Ororo and the others never tell us any of this."
"They probably want you to enjoy a happier school life. Besides, not everyone your age can handle hearing about things like this."
"All right, let's not talk about that."
Seeing how heavy the mood had become, Dilos quickly put an end to the topic.
After checking the analyzer's results, Dilos said to Qin Jiayin, "Use your ability once more. Just release a little energy."
At his words, Qin Jiayin released a tiny amount of Starlight Energy from her palm. It was only about the size of a ping-pong ball, but the glimmering points of light inside it were as entrancing as stars in the night sky.
"An astonishing ability,"
Dilos murmured to himself.
