Nighttime not only helped people sleep—it also bred evil.

Under the cover of darkness, many things could be easily concealed.

For example, committing sex crimes against women out of evil desire, or stealing, cheating, robbing... even murder.

And seventeen-year-old Alicia Baker was now facing the kind of murder case often seen in the news.

That day, she had just returned home from school. The moment she opened her bedroom door, she found a familiar young man in her room, rummaging through her wardrobe.

"Tim Wescott?!"

Upon seeing the man before her, Alicia instinctively spoke the name she remembered.

Clearly, this was someone Alicia knew. He was even an outstanding student in the university's history department, a well-known nice guy in everyone's eyes. But that did not mean Alicia would greet him kindly, for three reasons.

First, they were not close at all. Even her boyfriend Alec had never barged into her bedroom in the middle of the night. Second, someone who inexplicably entered another person's bedroom and casually rifled through a girl's clothes did not look like a good person, no matter how good his reputation at school was. Finally, Dilos Sullivan, the mysterious novelist who had dropped out of school and changed Alec's life, had explicitly told her—and shown her video evidence—that Tim Wescott was the true culprit who had framed her for the locked-room assault incident.

All things considered, Alicia instinctively took several steps back the moment she saw him. She had now completely confirmed what Dilos had said, but it was already too late.

Dilos's earlier plan had been for her to serve as bait while Alec hid nearby and struck Tim hard with lightning. Alec had flatly refused without hesitation, declaring that he would stay by Alicia's side at all times over the next few days.
