Dilos followed the direction of the footage, his steps light and quiet as he made his way toward the warehouse.
The warehouse door was open. Standing outside, Dilos could just make out muffled groans and the heavy tread of footsteps from within. He didn't rush in. Instead, he carefully surveyed the area. Once he was sure there were no traps, he slowly crept closer.
A blond young man with a hairstyle that looked straight out of the '70s or '80s had a middle-aged man and woman slung over his shoulders. He tossed them hard onto a pair of chairs, drawing a groan from each of them.
The two middle-aged captives were Jonathan Kent and Martha Kent. They looked battered. Their clothes were covered in dust, and there were several bruises on their faces and hands—injuries they had likely sustained while fighting their attacker. They sat in the chairs, grimacing in pain and unable to move.
They had clearly been hurt in the struggle. Dilos studied the young man's face and compared it with the man in his memory. Sure enough, they looked exactly alike.
The man was Harry Falk.
But there was something strange about him. Harry was supposed to have done nothing more than regain his youth, which should have left him as weak as an ordinary person. Yet Dilos sensed danger from him. That was why he hadn't attacked right away. Instead, he stayed hidden, watching and waiting for an opening.
"You know, I've always dreamed of this day."
Harry Falk spoke as he looked at Jonathan and Martha. He wore a sunny smile, but his eyes gleamed with vicious malice.
"Jonathan, your father did something wrong."
As he spoke, Harry took a small bundle of coiled piano wire from the bag he carried. "He died, so now you have to pay for it."
His voice was even, without a hint of emotion, as if Jonathan deserved to be punished for his revenge.
"Oh, sorry." Harry suddenly smiled and rubbed his forehead. "I'm so old, you know. Old people tend to talk too much. So, to spare you the annoyance, I'll get to the point."
By then, he had uncoiled the bundle of piano wire and was slowly walking toward Jonathan.
Jonathan showed no sign of backing down. He glared through his bruised face and shouted, "My father did nothing wrong! He did the right thing and brought a bastard like you to justice!"
Harry's face twisted into a sinister grin. He reached out with both hands, intending to loop the wire around Jonathan's neck. All it would take was a little force to strangle him.
Martha Kent saw what was happening and cried out, "No! Please, stop! This has nothing to do with him!"
Harry smiled, unfazed. "Don't worry. You'll be joining him soon enough."
As he spoke, he began to pull the wire tight.
In the blink of an eye, while Harry's attention was fixed on Jonathan, Dilos had already sent his vital energy coursing through his body with his blood. He sealed his pores and tensed his muscles. Pulling the tactical self-defense pen from his pocket, he unleashed An Jin through his arm and drove all his strength into it!
Dilos trusted the sense of danger he felt. It had saved his life many times before. If he was going to strike, he had to go all out and take his opponent down in one blow!
His arm was like a small cannon, and the self-defense pen, barely eight inches long, was its shell. With a sharp whoosh, it hurtled toward the back of Harry Falk's head and slammed into it!
It was a full-force sneak attack from Dilos in his normal state. If an ordinary person had been struck in the back of the head by a pen traveling with such speed and force, it would have punched a gaping hole through their skull, killing them horribly.
But...
There was a loud thud. When the tungsten-steel tip of the pen struck Harry, it rang out like metal clashing against metal.
The pen bounced away from the impact, spun through the air several times, and hit the floor. Harry Falk had only lurched forward by a few inches.
The sudden incident drew the attention of everyone present. Harry Falk and the two captives all turned to look at the warehouse entrance.
Dilos stood in the doorway, wearing a pair of ridiculous thick-rimmed glasses. He rubbed his forehead and flashed a goofy grin.
"Hi there! O(∩_∩)O"
Jonathan, Martha, and their attacker, Harry Falk, were dumbfounded. None of them seemed to have expected such an unexpected turn of events.
The standoff lasted for a moment. Then Harry suddenly felt something as hot as a branding iron sear his head.
"Argh!!!"
Harry screamed and released the piano wire, then clutched his head and collapsed to the floor in agony.
Dilos gave a silent cheer and charged forward. He hooked one arm around each of the Kents, lifted them out of their chairs, and rushed for the door.
Dilos hadn't been acting like an idiot for no reason.
When he saw how little his attack with the tactical pen had accomplished, he had known he was in trouble. The goofy pose had let him conceal his hand pressing the Heat Vision button on his glasses. It also let him use his Heat Vision at full power to roast Harry's head right out in the open!
Unfortunately, he hadn't managed to cook Harry's head. He had only forced him away from Jonathan and Martha. Nothing that could punch through a human body could pierce him, and even Heat Vision at full power couldn't roast his head.
Apart from Clark, this was the first time Dilos had seen anyone with a body this tough.
But that didn't matter now. The most important thing was to get the two people in his arms somewhere safe.
Although Dilos was strong, carrying the two of them as he ran was easy enough. Their weight still slowed him down, though.
"YOU!!! STOP!!! RIGHT!!! THERE!!!!!!"
Dilos suddenly heard a warped, terrifying roar behind him. He glanced back, and the corner of his mouth twitched. Harry Falk was charging after him from dozens of yards away at twice the speed of an ordinary person, his forehead red from the burn and his eyes bloodshot with fury!
