"Stop! I!! Said!!! Stop!!!!"
Dilos suddenly heard a hoarse, twisted roar from behind him. He quickly glanced over his shoulder, and the corner of his mouth twitched. Harry Falk, his forehead red from the burn and his eyes bloodshot with rage, was charging after them from the warehouse dozens of meters away at twice a normal person's speed!
"Oh, no~ The old man's mad~" Dilos cried theatrically, just loud enough for Harry Falk to hear every word.
That only fueled Harry Falk's fury. His chest tightened, and he nearly choked on his rage. But that wasn't all: his movements suddenly faltered, too.
Dilos had been keeping an eye on what was happening behind him, so he didn't miss that crucial moment. He seized the opportunity to push the energy inside him to its limits, and sped up by a few notches, nearly matching Harry Falk's pace.
Dilos had already left Harry Falk far behind. Though Harry Falk had initially closed the gap with his twice-normal speed, Dilos's sudden burst after that little interruption kept the distance between them from changing much.
What's more, Dilos's Lamborghini was nearby. In just that short time, he'd reached the car and opened the door!
"No!!" Harry Falk had noticed, too, but shouting with bloodshot eyes was no use. Desperate to keep Dilos and the others here, he gritted his teeth and pushed himself to run even faster, charging toward the three of them!
With that burst of speed, Harry Falk began closing the gap at a visible pace. But was Dilos going to let him get away with it?
No! His opponent was making a move, and so was he! Now it came down to whose actions were faster! The quicker one would win!
The moment he opened the car door, Dilos roughly tossed the two elderly people inside. As he shut the door, he spun around and leaped into the driver's seat on the other side. He slid into the seat with practiced ease, pulled out the key, slotted it into the ignition, and started the engine—all in one swift motion.
Vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom!
The whole process took less than two seconds, and Harry Falk was only five meters away!
"No!!!" Harry Falk shouted again. This time, he stopped running and used the momentum he'd built up to overcome the air resistance around him. Then he leaped, hurling himself at the Lamborghini carrying Dilos and the others!
The leap was so fast that an ordinary person would have been terrified by the sheer speed of it. But was Dilos an ordinary person?!
No!
The energy inside Dilos was already surging wildly through his body. Under its effects, his attention and reaction speed were nearly twice as sharp as usual. He'd noticed his opponent was about to lunge, and half a second before he did, Dilos slammed his foot down on the gas.
Vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom!!!!
With the engine roaring, the Lamborghini LP700-4 lived up to its reputation as a top-of-the-line sports car. Its beastlike power surged as it accelerated, and just as Harry Falk's hand was about to reach the rear of the car, it narrowly escaped his lunge!
Harry Falk slammed hard into the ground, missing his target. But he refused to give up. He scrambled to his feet and sprinted after the Lamborghini, which had already sped ten meters away.
There was no way he could catch Dilos's Lamborghini by running at only twice a normal person's speed.
Watching Harry Falk refuse to give up and keep chasing them in the rearview mirror, Dilos couldn't help sneering. The man's once-handsome face was twisted with rage, his mouth curled into a cold smirk.
Dilos leaned over and pulled out the seat belts, fastening them around Jonathan and his wife. Then, as they stared at him in confusion, he spoke.
"Hold on to each other. Be careful not to get scared in a moment."
Sensing that something was off, Jonathan put his arms around his wife and asked, "What? What are you going to do?"
For some reason, Jonathan and Martha both had a bad feeling.
But Dilos didn't answer them. Instead, he suddenly cranked the steering wheel.
The Lamborghini was speeding along, and the maneuver sent its front end lurching sharply to the right.
"Ahhhhhhh!!!"
Feeling as though they'd lost control and could flip over at any moment, Jonathan and Martha screamed in fright.
Shhhh, shhhh, shhhh, shhhh, shhhh!
The tires shrieked against the ground. As Dilos adjusted the steering wheel, he alternately tapped and pressed hard on the gas. Under his control, the Lamborghini didn't flip during the dangerous turn. Instead, it swung around with ease, faced Harry Falk as he ran toward them, and charged straight at him!
"Oh my God! What are you doing?!" Seeing what Dilos was doing, Jonathan grabbed the handle above the door with one hand and clung desperately to Martha with the other.
"Are you going to kill him?!"
"Relax. A body like his, impervious to blades and bullets, won't die that easily!" Dilos shouted. As they spoke, the Lamborghini's superb performance carried it to within ten meters of Harry Falk!
From the start, Dilos had been running the energy in his body at full power. It had sharpened his reflexes and heightened his combat instincts. And the longer it lasted, the more both abilities continued to improve.
When Harry Falk was only ten meters away, Dilos knew he was close enough. Without even realizing it, he'd become able to see through Harry Falk's movements with ease. He could even sense every turn of the Lamborghini's tires and the way the car responded when he shifted gears...
Dilos abruptly turned the steering wheel to the right again. This time, unlike before, he first drove a short distance to the left, then turned right.
"Have you lost your mind?!"
As Jonathan shouted beside him, Dilos used both hands and feet, rapidly adjusting the steering and throttle with astonishing reflexes until the Lamborghini was headed in the right direction.
With its engine roaring wildly and its driver's incredible skill at the wheel, the Lamborghini swung right in a broad oval arc and slammed into Harry Falk before he could react.
Harry Falk had already tried to dodge when Dilos first came at him. But the Lamborghini was simply too fast. By the time he figured out which way to go, Dilos had already pulled off an extreme drift on the road and closed in on him.
With a deafening crash, the Lamborghini's momentum sent Harry Falk flying more than twenty meters, straight into a tree thick enough for two people to wrap their arms around!
With a sharp crack, deep, finger-width fissures spread across the spot where the tree had been struck. And Harry Falk?
With a final thud, he landed on the ground, his face covered in blood and his arms and legs bent at unnatural angles. Dilos could sense that his opponent's mental activity was weak, but he was still alive.
Although he looked awful, the rejuvenated man had only dislocated some limbs and suffered a few fractures. The powerful impact had knocked him unconscious.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Dilos turned toward Jonathan and Martha, who had climbed out of the car looking shaken and uncertain, and smiled.
"Relax. He's not as tough as your son, but an impact like that won't kill him."
"Oh." Still somewhat dazed, the two nodded. Then they suddenly remembered something and looked up at Dilos in shock.
Dilos only adjusted his glasses and gave them a silly grin. He used X-Ray Vision to examine their bones, then said, "Your bones look fine, but just to be safe, you should get checked out by the ambulance in a bit."
"You..." Martha pointed at Dilos in shock, but he merely smiled and quickly left the area.
Ignoring Jonathan and Martha calling after him, Dilos dialed Lex's number...
