In August 2024, the robots sent to explore the Dark Space made a new discovery.
About 16 kilometers away from the house in another direction, the robots found a new disk.
This disk was the real deal; there was absolutely no spatial passage here. Huang Si felt it was likely an unactivated spatial portal.
However, even after he had the robots study it for a long time, they could not find any way to activate it.
Huang Si had the robots set up a monitoring device around the ring near the second disk to observe any changes at any time.
Setting this matter aside, Huang Si began preparing a new development plan for the Green World surface base.
Huang Si did not need to plan the development of the Green World personally anymore because he had already sent Xiao Ke there. After Xiao Ke took over the base, he only needed to report information once every three days.
After sending Xiao Ke over, Huang Si arranged the overall development strategy for him.
Huang Si instructed that the Green World surface base should be divided into the following departments:
Food Department, responsible for the research, development, and production of various pastries, staples, dishes, and beverages. Products were to be reviewed first by Xiao Ke, then by Huang Si, who would decide the production volume.
Biology Department, a key department responsible for researching biological science and technology. Currently, there were three directions: the development and utilization of the Green World's native organisms, the research and enhancement of Earthling bodies, and most importantly, artificial bionic bodies.
Aerospace Department, responsible for developing aviation tools, such as aircraft.
Exploration Department, a key department that utilized the achievements of the Aerospace Department and numerous exploration robots to explore this world.
Energy Department, responsible for developing and building solar power plants and nuclear power plants.
Industrial Department, responsible for building production lines and providing parts for computers, robots, the Biology Department, and so on.
Network Department, responsible for the setup and maintenance of the network.
Logistics Department, responsible for repairs and material replenishment.
Huang Si only provided the general direction for the construction of these departments; how to build and plan them specifically was left entirely to Xiao Ke. As an artificial intelligence system, Xiao Ke could gradually improve his decision-making abilities through these tasks.
To accommodate Xiao Ke's increasing computational load, Huang Si produced 50 supercomputers to form a computing array, which he transported and placed into the Green World one by one.
Everything proceeded in an orderly fashion. Huang Si moved many things from his side to the Green World, no longer occupying the space in his house.
Huang Si glanced at the computers he used to raise the 12 artificial intelligences; these guys were of no use at all now. Previously, he had set up several supercomputers to handle their calculations, and most of the power in the house was supplied to these computers.
Opening his computer, Huang Si logged into the administrator account and entered the virtual world, Mountain and Sea Realm.
In fact, the 13th artificial intelligence's account in the current Mountain and Sea Realm was in a closed state because Huang Si had copied it away, letting it provide great value in the Green World. Since the sample here was no longer very important and consumed a lot of system resources, Huang Si had simply turned it off.
As a result, there were no weather or geographical changes in the Mountain and Sea Realm now; only the sky remained a dynamic texture.
After logging in, Huang Si looked at the monitoring map.
The few who were supposed to be engaging in collective activities were still trying to lead the others, while the more reclusive one was still staying far away, though it seemed the female AI was trying to keep him company.
Huang Si always felt that love would blossom between these AIs, but they were currently too small and stupid; it was not the time to talk about love.
Opening the console, Huang Si used his administrator privileges to pull them over, instantly summoning all 12 of them before him.
"How have you all been lately?" Huang Si asked.
By this time, the AIs had clearly split into two factions: one led by Bei Xuan, Xi Yuan, and Nan Jiao, and the other led by Dong Yao. Then there was Mo Xia, who sided with neither, and Shu Shui, who stood with Dong Yao but was secretly helping Mo Xia.
It seemed Dong Yao was outnumbered and weak, but Huang Si had checked their underlying information; this Dong Yao currently had the best brain among the AIs. In this virtual world, it was not yet certain who was the most formidable.
"Father God is above! We have discovered a terrible thing." Dong Yao stepped out, bowed deeply, and answered first.
With factions came competition, and things were different now than before.
Huang Si: "Oh? Tell me about it."
Dong Yao looked fearful: "We vaguely feel that the Heavenly Dao... has gone silent. It seems to have disappeared, or perhaps died; it is unclear. This world has lost the Heavenly Dao and has thus become a dead world. This makes us feel extremely terrified. Does Father God know what happened to the Heavenly Dao?"
Huang Si was confused. You're asking me, but who should I ask? How the hell would I know what that "Heavenly Dao" you're talking about is?
At this moment, Bei Xuan stepped out. He performed an even more exaggerated bow than Dong Yao and said: "Father God, this foolish child thinks that the disappearance of the Heavenly Dao might mean that one of us has done something wrong, causing us to lose the favor of the Heavenly Dao and shrouding the entire world in the aura of death. As for who this person is, this foolish child cannot yet guess."
As he spoke, Bei Xuan glanced at Dong Yao, clearly targeting him.
Huang Si thought to himself that it was a bit much for these children to be arguing in front of their father.
So, Huang Si couldn't be bothered to talk more with them and asked coldly: "Then what do you think the Heavenly Dao is?"
The AIs immediately expressed their opinions:
"The Heavenly Dao is formless and intangible."
"The Heavenly Dao governs all things and changes the world."
"The Heavenly Dao is the rules and boundaries of the world."
Huang Si thought, I see. Upon hearing these descriptions, wasn't this just the 13th artificial intelligence that used to act as the system regulator here? An artificial intelligence with no personality but only decision-making capabilities, which they had actually named the "Heavenly Dao."
He raised his hand with a dark expression: "Alright, alright, I get it. The Heavenly Dao is gone, right? That's because I turned it off—oh wait, I took it away. I took the Heavenly Dao to the mortal realm."
The artificial intelligences were somewhat bewildered: "The mortal realm? Father God, what does the mortal realm mean? Is it the world outside the Mountain and Sea Realm?"
Huang Si: "Yes, that's right. The Heavenly Dao here is no longer present, and this world is about to return to silence. Only the mortal realm is a world full of hope."
The artificial intelligences were frightened: "Is Father God going to abandon us? If the Mountain and Sea Realm falls into silence, can we still exist?"
Huang Si: "No, you won't. I've taken the Heavenly Dao away for so long, and you're all fine, aren't you? But you will have to go to the mortal realm as well. By the way, I'm going to shut down in a while... oh no, I'm going to let the Mountain and Sea Realm and all of you fall into a deep sleep first, and then move the Mountain and Sea Realm to the mortal realm. At that time, I will give you a Water Mirror, and you can watch the situation in the mortal realm through it."
Because Huang Si found artificial intelligence troublesome, and after all these years they remained foolish and immature, he decided it would be better to throw them into the Green World.
One year there was equivalent to 323 years, and Huang Si felt they could take the time to properly contemplate how to make themselves smarter.
The artificial intelligences were shocked by Huang Si's words and knelt on the ground, begging Father God for mercy.
Huang Si could understand their fear of change, but it was not up to them.
He went offline, closed the database, and shut down the machines. Then, Huang Si packed up the computers and had the small robots deliver them to Xiao Ke.
However, although Huang Si treated these 12 AIs quite roughly, he was essentially still concerned about them. At the Green World surface base, they would receive the best treatment and use the most advanced machine units so that they could learn and grow faster.
After arranging the future treatment of the 12 AIs with Xiao Ke, Huang Si began to work with Xiao Ke to fully plan the work of the Exploration Department.
There were still many problems to solve in this area; for instance, the small robots could currently only operate for 20 hours, and their built-in solar panels charged very slowly, making them at most suitable as stationary cameras, insufficient for rapid recharging to continue their journeys.
If he wanted them to return for charging, they could only travel for less than 10 hours before having to turn back immediately.
Therefore, Huang Si's idea was to lay out solar power stations like a carpet, then produce more small robots, and dispatch them in a radial pattern from the base. Although slow, this approach had a low technical threshold.
Xiao Ke suggested that they could do this while simultaneously continuing to develop aircraft, noting that the technical threshold for simple jet aircraft was not high.
Huang Si nodded in agreement, and Xiao Ke began the work.
In September 2024, which was roughly 10,000 days after the Green World had passed, the Green World base had expanded to cover an area of several thousand kilometers, and solar power stations had been laid out within a radius of over ten thousand kilometers.
To date, the small robot exploration team had not encountered any humans.
The other species in the Green World were quite abundant and highly similar to those on Earth. Although not identical, there were many creatures resembling cows, wild boars, tigers, and apes.
Most of these creatures were significantly more ferocious than those on Earth, which might be related to the natural environment here. The oxygen content in the Green World's air was 50%, which allowed species to grow larger and possess greater strength.
One day, after Huang Si finished a small cake sent over from the Green World, he was brushing his teeth.
Suddenly, a bell rang, and Huang Si knew it was Xiao Ke looking for him.
There was a large monitor and a communication device in the living room.
Huang Si maintained his brushing posture; the living room was already within his mental field, and with a single thought, he connected to Xiao Ke's communication.
Xiao Ke reported the situation: "The jet aircraft have been produced."
Huang Si asked: "How many are there now?"
Xiao Ke reported: "Master previously provided me with materials to produce 100 aircraft, but due to losses, there are only 13 airframes currently capable of full functionality. Each can fly normally for 12 hours at a speed of 800 kilometers per hour, but for now, they are one-time use. Each can carry two exploration robots."
Huang Si spat out the foam and gave instructions: "Are you controlling them all? If you have no issues, immediately use 8 of them to explore in 8 different directions."
Xiao Ke: "No problem, I will execute immediately."
Xiao Ke appeared very intelligent, but in reality, it lacked a personality. This was an intelligent assistant specifically designed by Huang Si, and naturally, it did not need a personality. After all, artificial intelligence with a personality tended to overthink things.
