Gray struck the Red Line rapidly, the force rebounding through him and tempering his Armament Haki.
The Haki inside his body flowed rapidly, allowing Gray to use more of it in his attacks over a short period.
Hardening and Entanglement were only the basics. When attacking, he could combine Emission and Internal Destruction.
Sometimes, this let Gray deliver a solid-feeling blow even without his fist touching the Red Line.
Mastering Entanglement and Emission would let him extend the range of his Flying Wheel after infusing it with Haki. Mastering Internal Destruction would let him attack an enemy from within, without fixating on the inability to break through their defenses.

Again and again, even as sweat soaked his entire body, Gray had no desire to stop and wipe it away.
He was completely absorbed in training now. His first priority was to exhaust his Armament Haki as quickly as possible.
