Huo Yuhao only felt that the place Zhu Lu mentioned sounded somewhat familiar, but he had no strong impression of it. Casually tossing Zhu Lu out, he said, "I've never picked up your teeth, anyway. If you really want them back, go ask the teacher in charge of cleaning where they threw them."
After closing the door, Sky Dream Ice Silkworm's voice suddenly rang out in Huo Yuhao's mind. "Come to think of it, wasn't the city where you bought that recommendation letter called Star Wolf City?"
Huo Yuhao froze slightly, then thought back for a moment and confirmed that the place Zhu Lu had mentioned was indeed the one written on his recommendation letter.
Maybe people there really did have that habit, and that was why Zhu Lu had misunderstood... Even so, Zhu Lu was still crazy, but Huo Yuhao finally understood what she had been thinking.
Wang Dong, meanwhile, said gossipily from the side, "So you're from Star Wolf City. That'll make it easy to buy you gifts in the future."
Huo Yuhao waved his hand dismissively as if shooing away flies. "Get lost already. Not everyone who lives there likes that stuff. I certainly don't. Holding someone else's teeth in your hand is kind of disgusting."
Huo Yuhao's words made Wang Dong pause. Then she stretched lazily and said, "Then you really are a freak from Star Wolf City."
Huo Yuhao shrugged and did not take the matter to heart. He simply sat quietly in a chair, waiting for Xiao Xiao to return with their food.
At that moment, Wang Dong suddenly said, "Even if it isn't much of a secret anymore, she actually managed to find out where your recommendation letter was made. As champions, shouldn't we be able to lodge at least a small protest?"
Huo Yuhao considered it for a moment, then shrugged. "Making a fuss won't accomplish much. At most, they'll punish one or two temporary workers. Besides, that information is useless to me anyway. Let it go."
Wang Dong lay on the bed in thought. About twenty minutes later, Xiao Xiao pushed open the door and walked in, looking at Huo Yuhao strangely. "I've never seen you carry other people's teeth around as a hobby."
Huo Yuhao: "..."
Wang Dong immediately got angry at Xiao Xiao's words. Sitting up, she said unhappily, "Is that Zhu Lu still going around biting people?"
Seeing Wang Dong like this, Xiao Xiao roughly guessed what had happened. Wang Dong then recounted Zhu Lu's earlier antics, making Xiao Xiao frown. "She really does have something wrong with her head."
Huo Yuhao did not think much of it at all. He merely shrugged indifferently and said to Xiao Xiao, "Whatever. Rumors aren't going to make me lose skin or flesh."
Xiao Xiao stopped dwelling on it and eagerly opened the food box she had brought back.
A rich aroma immediately spread through the infirmary. Huo Yuhao closed the door and used ice element to freeze the water molecules in the air, sealing the cracks around the door and windows to prevent any teachers from interrupting their celebratory meal.
Xiao Xiao excitedly took several bottles of juice from beneath the food box. After opening them, she said, "It's not appropriate to drink alcohol right now, but a celebration feast has to have something to drink."
Huo Yuhao shrugged, then sat at the head of Wang Dong's bed and gently moved her limp hand. "You're making things difficult for our young master Wang, whose meridians are injured."
Wang Dong rolled her eyes at Huo Yuhao, then pinched his arm in protest. Huo Yuhao did not care at all, instead pouring a cup of juice and bringing it to Wang Dong's lips.
The three of them completed their celebratory feast amid a cheerful atmosphere.
The next morning was another bright, sunny day. Because Sea God Lake lay within the campus, the air at Shrek Academy was not only fresh but also exceptionally humid.
All the freshmen who had passed the assessment gathered in Shrek Square, waiting to be assigned to their classes.
Wang Dong naturally draped an arm over Huo Yuhao's shoulder and, still somewhat unsteady on her feet, walked to the front of the group.
Du Weilun held a folder in his hand. After smilingly sweeping his gaze over the young students, he said,
"I believe everyone already knows that the Freshman Assessment elimination rounds have concluded, and the final top three have been decided. I will now formally announce them once more, along with the rewards they will receive."
There was no change in the rankings of the top three. If there was anything different, it was that Zhu Lu had not shown up. Apparently, she had gone to have her teeth repaired.
Only two members of Dai Huabin's team came forward, which was already surprising enough. The peculiar expressions on their faces also caught everyone off guard.
Dai Huabin wore an expression as though his mother had died, while Cui Yajie instead looked excited.
Clearly, after reviewing the battle, Dai Huabin's team relationship had fallen to rock bottom. Under normal circumstances, even to save Dai Huabin face, Cui Yajie should not have appeared so delighted.
Besides that, Du Weilun did not change the team's name as he had in the original story. He properly announced them as Huo Yuhao's team.
Once all the members of the three teams had stepped forward, Du Weilun's approving gaze passed over the eight people before him. Then he announced the final reward.
"Good. I will now announce the rewards for the top three teams of the Freshman Assessment. Every member of the top three teams may submit a request to the academy when they need a Soul Ring. The academy will assist them in obtaining one Soul Ring that they can bear and that is best suited to them."
The moment those words were spoken, the first-year students erupted into astonished exclamations. This reward had clearly deeply stunned the ordinary students below the stage.
Du Weilun continued, "In light of champion Huo Yuhao's team's outstanding performance and flawless record throughout the competition, the academy has decided to grant them a special reward. The academy will keep this reward confidential for now. Once the class assignments are complete, you may come with me to receive it."
Next came the announcement of the Outer Court Core Disciple list. Strangely enough, Huo Yuhao's name still did not appear on it this time.
Even among the subsequent Reserve Core Disciples, Huo Yuhao's name was absent. This time, Wang Dong could no longer remain calm and lightly reached out to grip Huo Yuhao's wrist.
Huo Yuhao raised a hand to stop Wang Dong, then gave her an almost imperceptible shake of his head.
He had some guesses about this arrangement. The team's name had not been changed, which meant it was not because he lacked ability. There should be some other arrangement.
Next came the class assignments. The entire first year was divided into four classes. Class One was for assault-type and control-type Battle Soul Masters; Class Two was for defense-type and agility-attack-type Battle Soul Masters; Class Three was for support-type Battle Soul Masters; and Class Four was for all other special-attribute Battle Soul Masters and Tool Soul Masters, including food-type and healing-type Soul Masters.
After the class assignments were finished, Huo Yuhao's team was summoned by Du Weilun to the grade director's office to collect their so-called special reward.
While they were walking, Wang Dong finally could not hold it in any longer and asked Du Weilun, "Director Du, did you leave Huo Yuhao off the Core Disciple list? If he is not a Core Disciple, then I do not believe I am qualified to bear the empty title of one..."
