Ch. 441Blade and Sword
Chapter summary
Jiang Yuan defeats Disha of White Elephant Country after their attacks collide with devastating force. Disha disappears from the battlefield, Hell’s Gate and the Evil Golem collapse, and Jiang Yuan wins the match, gaining Blood-Violet Marrow. Though Disha’s final strike breaks through Jiang Yuan’s defenses and badly injures him, a golden light beneath his skin rapidly heals his wounds. Jiang Yuan calmly calls for the next opponent, despite the arena’s immense destruction and spectators’ concern about his condition.
Sage Sean notices that Jiang Yuan’s health and blood energy have dropped, while his mental domain remains sealed. He judges this the best opportunity to stop Jiang Yuan’s winning streak. Three figures move toward the battlefield; Park Jin-hyeok arrives first.
Park has advanced from Ninth-Tier Grandmaster to Quasi-King after using a potion made with blood from a Nine-Colored Deer. Seeking revenge for his earlier humiliation, he attacks Jiang Yuan with his Life-Extinguishing Sword Art. His rapid strikes cut Jiang Yuan, but Jiang’s injuries heal almost immediately—especially while Star Explosion boosts his defense and recovery.
Jiang Yuan dismisses Park’s new rank as insufficient given his underlying stats. The two then clash at high speed, sword against blade, with their blows shaking and carving up the arena. Jiang’s Heaven Devour strike appears to sever Park’s sword arm, but Park’s Dream of Eight Branches skill negates the injury. He uses the opening to prepare his strongest technique, Star Mark, Song of the Blade. The chapter ends before the attack lands.
Character developments and interactions
- Jiang Yuan remains composed after a costly victory, showing extraordinary regeneration and combat ability. His confidence—and his willingness to continue despite his injuries—alarms his supporters.
- Park Jin-hyeok has grown dramatically stronger through his Quasi-King breakthrough, but revenge still drives him. His special ability to negate one injury lets him recover from Jiang’s decisive-looking counter.
- Sage Sean shifts the focus from Jiang’s apparent invincibility to his vulnerabilities, encouraging the Quasi-Kings to exploit his weakened state.
- The spectators admire Jiang’s power but worry that the damage from Disha’s attack may have left him vulnerable.
Significant themes
- Power versus limits: Jiang’s abilities are immense, but the chapter makes clear that even he can be hurt and depleted.
- Perseverance and pressure: Jiang presses on while injured, while Park’s breakthrough is fueled by urgency, pressure, and a desire for revenge.
- Escalation and spectacle: The increasingly destructive battles turn the arena into a scene of near-apocalyptic devastation.
- Adaptation in combat: Both fighters rely not only on strength, but also on recovery, speed, special skills, and tactical openings.
