The moment he said that, everyone stopped.
He Shou did not charge ahead at once. He merely lowered his voice.
"Let's sneak over and take a look first."
The six of them moved along the jagged rocks and low slopes. Before long, they heard the commotion.
First came a dull collision, followed closely by the sound of spells exploding. They moved a little farther forward, and as their view opened up, the battlefield came into sight.
Another guard squad was up ahead.
There were two Demonic Beasts on the other side.
One was enormous, its entire body covered in bluish-black scales. Its back rose high, and a short, thick horn grew from its forehead. It was clearly a Split-Horned Lizard, and its aura had already reached the Upper First-Order.
The other was smaller, but more vicious: a Grey-Backed Wind Wolf at First-Order Mid-Grade, constantly circling along the flank.
Every time the Split-Horned Lizard raised its head, earthen-yellow spiritual light glowed in its mouth. What it spat out were either stone spikes or earthen bullets. The Grey-Backed Wind Wolf was faster still; it opened its jaws and spat Wind Blades, always aiming for the edges of shields and people's legs.
The other squad was clearly at a disadvantage.
