"What's wrong? Did something happen?"
As soon as Huang Ruolin and Pei Qinhu stepped out, they saw the conflicted expression on Lin Yi's face.
They hadn't expected the usually powerful Lin Yi to look so grave, and their own expressions darkened in response.
Lin Yi hesitated for a moment, pursed his lips, and finally spoke up, "Situ Qianji and Zheng Shan were just here."
"What were they doing here!" Huang Ruolin reacted fiercely upon hearing this.
Everyone knew these two were the only real threats among them. Could it be that they had already discovered Lin Yi's weakness?
If that were the case, wouldn't Lin Yi be in danger?
Seeing Huang Ruolin's worried look, Lin Yi frowned. He was indeed in danger, but not because of those two old men.
The conversation they had just shared flooded back into his mind. Lin Yi furrowed his brows tightly, biting his lip. His deep eyes turned dull and vacant, resembling a stagnant, lifeless lake.
Seeing him remain silent, Pei Qinhu realized the gravity of the situation. But if even Lin Yi couldn't solve it, what use would he be?
Or perhaps he was worried about a lack of reinforcements?
"Alliance Leader Lin, I, Pei Qinhu, am willing to lead my entire sect to help you overcome this trouble!" Pei Qinhu knelt on the ground abruptly, holding his hands high above his head, looking as if he were ready to face death.
Seeing him do this, Huang Ruolin followed suit and knelt as well. Her life belonged to Lin Yi; what did it matter if she risked it for him?
However, the only response they received was the echo bouncing around the large room. Lin Yi was lost in deep thought and hadn't heard a word they said.
They didn't get annoyed, remaining on their knees without moving, their hands held high and steady.
Zhang Linlang walked in after hearing the commotion. When she saw the two kneeling on the floor, her gaze fell upon Lin Yi, who was sitting opposite them, lost in a daze.
He held a cup of water, gently swirling it as if waiting for it to cool. Steam rose from the cup; whether it was the steam or something else, Zhang Linlang saw a mist of water clouding his eyes.
"Alliance Leader Lin, what happened?" She walked to his side and gently tapped his shoulder, trying to pull him out of his reverie.
The slight shake brought Lin Yi back to his senses. When he saw Pei Qinhu and Huang Ruolin kneeling before him, he was slightly stunned and asked in confusion, "What are you two doing?"
"Alliance Leader Lin, I, Pei Qinhu, am willing to lead my entire sect to share your burdens!" Seeing him return to reality, Pei Qinhu lowered his head and repeated his vow.
Huang Ruolin followed suit. Lin Yi looked at the two of them, a warmth flowing through his heart. Right now, they were the only ones who truly cared for him.
This matter should have been simple; with his system, he could solve anything. But regarding what had just happened, he checked the system and found no records of it.
"Situ Qianji and Zheng Shan were here just now, you know," Lin Yi stood up from his stool, walked slowly toward the three of them, and said with a serious face, "They told me information regarding the Storm War Dragon."
Upon hearing his words, the three were dumbstruck. The Storm War Dragon was an incredibly rare soul beast. Even Lin Yi's soul rings were exchanged through the system, so he had always assumed such a creature didn't actually exist.
When he heard Zheng Shan mention the Storm War Dragon, he had been shocked, thinking he was being deceived, but the facts proved otherwise.
"Where is it?" Pei Qinhu asked, his face full of gloom, seemingly unable to believe it.
What Lin Yi said next stunned the three of them again. That place was a living hell; no one would ever go there. But on second thought, perhaps the Storm War Dragon was counting on the fact that no one would dare to go there.
"Ghost Sorrow Cliff? Why does that sound familiar?" Zhang Linlang rubbed her head, her delicate brows furrowed as if she were thinking.
She did have many things she couldn't remember, but she had a faint impression of Ghost Sorrow Cliff. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but it felt as if she had been there before.
Lin Yi fell back into deep thought. Of course he knew of Ghost Sorrow Cliff. Wasn't that where Tang San was chased to after the Tang Sect discovered he had stolen inner sect techniques?
But the strange thing was that ever since he jumped off Ghost Sorrow Cliff, it had become a living hell. The lava covering the ground had left the already desolate cliff devoid of any living thing; even the soul beasts that once lived in that purgatory had vanished.
"I remember now!" Zhang Linlang slapped her head hard, finally recalling a bit of information about Ghost Sorrow Cliff, "Are you talking about that living hell, Ghost Sorrow Cliff?"
Lin Yi nodded. Although he now possessed the abilities of a Storm War Dragon, if he were to absorb another one, he would become a true Storm War Dragon. At that point, he would truly step into the realm of gods.
"You can't go!" Seeing that he really intended to go, Zhang Linlang jumped up and blocked his path, "It's far too dangerous there. You cannot go."
Lin Yi knew she was concerned for him, but he had to go. Not to dominate the entire Douluo Continent, but simply to return to his own world.
If he didn't go and the mission failed, he would lose his chance to return home.
He had considered not going. After all, no one went to that place, so he would remain the only Storm War Dragon on the Douluo Continent. Plus, with his system, his life was essentially like playing a game with cheats.
But just as he was about to give up, the system's cold, mechanical female voice echoed in his mind. The mission was to absorb all the energy of the Storm War Dragon.
Lin Yi sighed and shook his head helplessly. He walked slowly out of the room, saying resignedly before he left, "I have to go this time."
After he left, only the three of them remained in the large room, the silence so profound that only their breathing could be heard.
"What should we do?" Huang Ruolin stood up from the floor, staring blankly at Lin Yi's departing back. Tears welled up in her beautiful eyes, and her voice was choked with emotion.
Zhang Linlang watched his retreating figure, her eyes dull and lost in thought. She didn't speak, her pretty lips pursed, slightly parted, then closed again.
Seeing the two girls so indecisive, Pei Qinhu felt deeply anxious. Lin Yi's back had already vanished from sight, and he stared in the direction he had gone, lost in thought.
"If Alliance Leader Lin is truly going, I, Pei Qinhu, will be the first to charge ahead." His eyes were filled with determination, as if he held the resolve to face death without fear.
After leaving, Lin Yi arrived at a secluded forest. The chirping of birds echoed in his ears, and a gentle breeze brushed against his cheeks, tousling his long hair as if soothing his restless heart.
