Background / History
Tang San attended Notting Academy alongside Xiao Wu and Han Xing. Before Han Xing arrived, Xiao Wu had defeated Tang San, though observers note Tang San had not used his hidden weapons or fought at full strength. 3 4
After Han Xing repeatedly defeated and seriously injured Xiao Wu, Tang San confronted him. He entered their duel as a level 13 control-system spirit master and attempted to seize the initiative with Blue Silver Entanglement, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, Mysterious Jade Hand, and Crane Controlling Dragon Seizing. Han Xing’s flames completely countered Blue Silver Grass, and Tang San ultimately accepted a draw and withdrew. 8 9
Tang San later sought Yu Xiaogang’s guidance over Blue Silver Grass’s weakness to fire. Yu explained that the Three-Legged Golden Crow’s elemental advantage made the suppression inevitable, advised Tang San not to rush cultivation of his Clear Sky Hammer, and encouraged him to recruit Han Xing as a future Tang Sect asset rather than seek revenge. 10
Five years later, Tang San had continued sparring with Han Xing, but their clashes produced no major developments. 11 After arriving at Blue Tyrant Academy with his group, he was abducted by Dugu Bo. Han Xing and Radiant Douluo forced Dugu Bo to surrender the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye, rescuing Tang San but denying him access to its Immortal Herbs. 25 26 27
Tang San later attempted to obtain Immortal Herbs from Han Xing through trade, first considering mechanical-device blueprints and then offering the Silent Sleeve Arrow and Zhuge Crossbow. Han Xing refused, valuing the herbs’ potential path to godhood above hidden weapons. 40 43 44 45
Personality
Tang San is protective of Xiao Wu and repeatedly confronts Han Xing over her injuries, even when other work-study students are too intimidated to act. 5 8 34
He is tactical and pragmatic in battle. When he could not bypass Han Xing’s defenses without hidden weapons, he chose to retreat rather than continue an unwinnable fight, following the Tang Sect principle of withdrawing after a failed strike. 9
He is also ambitious and guarded about Tang Sect knowledge. Tang San considers trading mechanical hidden-weapon designs for Immortal Herbs but refuses to surrender the Tang Sect’s secret techniques, which he regards as the foundation of his existence. 40
Abilities & Skills
Blue Silver Grass
Tang San’s primary martial soul is Blue Silver Grass, used as a control-type spirit.
- Blue Silver Entanglement — Raises Blue Silver Grass vines to bind opponents. 8
- His Blue Silver Grass is strongly suppressed by powerful fire-attribute spirit masters; Han Xing’s Sun True Fire burns the vines before they can make contact. 8 10
- Yu Xiaogang states that Tang San’s first ring came from a roughly four-hundred-year Datura Snake and significantly strengthened his Blue Silver Grass. 10
Clear Sky Hammer
Tang San possesses the Clear Sky Hammer as a second martial soul.
- Yu Xiaogang advises him not to cultivate it prematurely. 10
- Yu Xiaogang believes that filling it with high-level soul rings could eventually make Tang San unmatched on the continent. 10
- Tang San later uses it alongside Blue Silver Grass, the Zhuge Crossbow, and Eight Spider Lances against a ten-thousand-year Man Faced Demon Spider. 45
Tang Sect Techniques
Tang San retains combat methods from the Tang Sect.
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — Footwork that greatly improves mobility and lets him evade Han Xing’s Flame Feathers. 8 9

- Crane Controlling Dragon Seizing — A grappling technique used in an attempt to capture Han Xing. 8
- Tang San is skilled enough to use ordinary stones as ranged disruptions when hidden weapons are unavailable. 15
Hidden Weapons
Tang San regards weapons as morally neutral, arguing that their use—not their existence—determines whether they are honorable. 44 45
- Silent Sleeve Arrow — Offered to Han Xing in exchange for an Immortal Herb. 44
- Zhuge Crossbow — Offered alongside the Silent Sleeve Arrow; later used against the Man Faced Demon Spider. 44 45
- He cannot effectively overcome Han Xing without hidden weapons, as his Blue Silver Grass cannot breach the Golden Crow’s flames. 8 9
