Background / History

Tang San studied at Notting Academy with Wang Dong'er and Xiao Wu for six years. Yu Xiaogang served as his teacher and recommended that Tang San and Xiao Wu continue their studies at Shrek Academy after graduation. Tang San intended to follow this arrangement, while Wang Dong'er chose to travel independently instead. 2

After overhearing Xiao Wu confess to Wang Dong'er, Tang San initially mistakes his distress for attraction to Wang Dong'er. He later recognizes that his pain stems from seeing Xiao Wu become close to Wang Dong'er while he is left out. 1 2

Tang San travels with Xiao Wu and Wang Dong'er toward Soto City and Shrek Academy. As Xiao Wu, Dugu Yan, Ye Lingling, and Wang Dong'er grow closer, he increasingly feels excluded, even while acting as the group’s carriage driver. 26 30

At Shrek Academy, Tang San’s jealousy turns into open resentment toward Wang Dong'er, whom he sees as the reason Xiao Wu prioritizes someone else over him. When Xiao Wu chooses to leave Shrek with Wang Dong'er, Tang San releases a burst of killing intent. Xiao Wu interprets it as hostility toward Wang Dong'er and ends their six-year friendship. Tang Hao witnesses his son’s breakdown and later attacks Wang Dong'er and Xiao Wu.
