Douluo Era.
Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.
Ning Rongrong stood in the center of the great hall, her face flushed red, her fingers clutching the hem of her skirt.
She looked up and cursed at the direction where the Light Screen had vanished.
"Dammit! That despicable man, he actually dares to deceive me in the future!"
"How could my eyes be so blind that I would fall for such a disgusting man in the future!"
"Just the thought of a man like that being a philanderer makes me feel sick to my stomach!"
After she finished speaking, she bent over, one hand bracing her knee while the other clutched her chest, and she dry-heaved a few times.
A nauseated sound escaped her throat, and tears were forced out by the retching.
Chen Xin stepped forward.
"Don't be afraid, Rongrong, Sword Grandpa will vent your anger for you."
His face was livid, his voice low:
"Isn't it just some backwater school?"
"I don't care how powerful they are in the future, I'll just wipe them out!"
Gu Rong also sneered, slamming his bone staff heavily against the floor.
"That's right, Rongrong. With me and Chen Xin backing you up, are you still afraid of any man bullying you?"
"As for that Oscar, Bone Grandpa will set off right now and dismantle his bones to use as firewood for you!"
Ning Rongrong looked up at her two grandfathers, and the surging feeling of nausea finally subsided a little.
She bit her lip, just about to say something, when a voice sounded from the side.
"Uncle Sword, Uncle Bone, don't be so hasty."
Ning Fengzhi held a teacup, took a sip, and wore a smile on his face.
Chen Xin and Gu Rong looked at him simultaneously.
Ning Rongrong also turned her head and called out, "Dad?"
Ning Fengzhi set down his teacup: "This Oscar, daring to bully Rongrong, of course deserves to die."
"Dying ten thousand times wouldn't be enough."
He paused.
"However, this Oscar is also the person with the best chance of inheriting the position of the God of Food."
Chen Xin's brows furrowed.
He stared at Ning Fengzhi, his voice dropping: "Fengzhi, what do you mean?"
Ning Fengzhi smiled.
"My meaning is very simple."
Ning Fengzhi stood up, stood with his hands behind his back, and paced a few steps:
"Since the Nine-Colored Goddess is to descend with the God of Food to bestow their godhoods, wouldn't Rongrong be able to obtain the Nine-Colored Goddess's position if she were with Oscar?"
Gu Rong's expression changed drastically.
He slammed his hand onto the armrest, his bone staff vibrating with a hum, and he rebuked angrily:
"Fengzhi, what are you saying? Are you saying that even knowing this Oscar is a philanderer, you would still give Rongrong to him?"
"She is your own daughter!"
Ning Rongrong was also frantic, her eyes rimmed with red, her voice filled with tears and anger: "I don't want to marry a philanderer like that!"
"Not even if it means becoming a god!"
"Dad, what are you talking about! Have you lost your mind?"
Ning Fengzhi raised his hand to calm them, his smile unchanging.
He looked at Gu Rong, then at Ning Rongrong.
"Rest assured, what I am thinking is—we won't kill Oscar first, but rather capture him and then castrate him."
"That way, he won't be able to bully Rongrong."
"Once castrated, he might even focus more on his cultivation, increasing the probability of inheriting the God of Food's position."
"Then we can have him and Rongrong enter a fake marriage, and when the time comes, Rongrong will become a god."
"Once in the God Realm, it will be full of the elite; surely she could find a suitable husband then, right?"
He tilted his head slightly, his gaze resting on Ning Rongrong.
"This Oscar is nothing more than a switch to help Rongrong become a god."
"How is it?"
The great hall fell silent for a moment.
Chen Xin's brow relaxed.
He stroked his beard, the killing intent in his eyes dissipating, replaced by a bright gleam.
Gu Rong also stood frozen in place, slowly lowering the bone staff in his hand.
"It truly... is the logical path." Gu Rong muttered.
Chen Xin burst into laughter, the sound echoing throughout the hall.
"Hahaha! Excellent, this method works!"
"Rongrong won't be bullied, and that brat won't be able to stir up any trouble."
"Rongrong being able to become a god in the future, that is the key!"
"What kind of ladybug or whatever, a eunuch, what does he even amount to?"
He patted Ning Rongrong on the shoulder:
"Rongrong, you just wait, Sword Grandpa will help you castrate that Oscar fellow!"
"I guarantee that from this day forward, he'll only be able to stare blankly whenever he sees a woman!"
Ning Rongrong opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but swallowed it back down.
She furrowed her brows, seemingly pondering something, yet unable to articulate what felt wrong.
She wouldn't have to marry that disgusting man, she wouldn't be bullied, and she could still become a god—and after becoming a god, she could find an even better man.
She pursed her lips and whispered, "Will this... really work?"
No one answered her.
Chen Xin and Gu Rong were already discussing how to make their move.
Ning Fengzhi held his teacup, a smile playing on his lips.
Douluo Era.
Shrek Academy.
With a "thud," Oscar slammed his knees onto the ground.
He knelt before Flender, trembling all over, his face smeared with snot and tears.
"Dean! You must save me!"
"Legend says the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect has two Titled Douluo; if they come, I won't even have a place to be buried!"
"Dean! I beg you, Dean!"
"You're my own father! You're my own father, alright!"
Flender stood before him, hands clasped behind his back.
He opened his mouth, then closed it, finally letting out only a sigh.
"Xiao Ao, you said it yourself, they are Titled Douluo."
"Do you really think I, a mere Soul Saint, can deal with Titled Douluo?"
Oscar gripped Flender's pant leg tightly.
"Dean, you have a brain!"
"You're the smartest! You must have a way! Think of something, Dean!"
Flender looked down at Oscar, silent for a moment, then pulled his pant leg from his grasp.
"It's not that I don't want to protect you, but I truly cannot."
Oscar's hands froze in mid-air.
His tears were still flowing, but his wailing stopped.
He knelt there, his pupils unfocused.
"Then what do I do?" he muttered.
"It's over. I didn't even do anything; didn't I just play around with some women in the past?"
"I didn't even bully this Ning Rongrong!"
"Am I being punished for things that haven't even happened yet?"
He whipped his head around, lunging toward Dai Mubai, grabbing his arms with a desperate grip.
"Boss Dai! Boss Dai, save me!"
"Your family has such great influence, please put in a word for me! Save me!"
Dai Mubai leaned against a pillar, arms crossed, watching Oscar.
He shook his head and sighed.
"Little Ao, I can barely protect myself, so how am I supposed to protect you?"
"Aside from having a bit of money, what else do I have? What on earth do I even have left?"
He looked down at the hand Oscar had clamped onto his arm, neither pushing it away nor holding it in return.
Oscar's lips were trembling.
He turned his head to look at Ma Hongjun.
Ma Hongjun scratched his head, forced a smile onto his face, and patted Oscar on the shoulder.
"Little Ao, don't you worry, I'll make sure to prepare a funeral wreath for you later."
"You're my brother, so I can at least burn a few paper dolls for you to keep you company down there, right?"
After hearing those words, Oscar felt as if his bones had been pulled out, and he collapsed onto the ground.
