Background

Nana was forced into the Holy Spirit Cult after an Evil Soul Master manipulated her mother into killing Nana's father and then taking her own life. The cult enslaved both of her parents' souls and used this vulnerability to compel Nana to enroll at the Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineer Academy. Although connected to the cult, she avoided harming others, ignored its assignments, and maintained the conduct of a model student. 32 33

During the academy's purge of personnel with suspicious identities, Nana was detained because of her connection to the Holy Spirit Cult. Xiao Hongchen investigated her history, argued that she had been coerced rather than willingly involved, and accepted personal responsibility for overseeing her actions. 32 33

Xiao Hongchen promised to help free her parents' souls. After investigating the Holy Spirit Cult branch hall, Nana guided Xiao Hongchen, Meng Hongchen, and Ye Guyi through its hidden entrance and into the Great Holy Spirit's hideout. 33 34 35

Following the branch hall's destruction, Nana was able to reunite with her parents' souls before they dissipated. In gratitude, she chose to devote her life to serving Xiao Hongchen, while continuing her studies at the academy. 37 38

She is cautious around Xiao Hongchen at first, viewing him as another powerful figure who might exploit her circumstances. However, his effort to save her parents earns her sincere gratitude and lasting loyalty. 33 37
