In his youth, Mu En discovered the Radiant Dragon Core in a hidden ancient ruin. Absorbing its immense power allowed him to break through to the rank of Limit Douluo, but the artifact’s accumulated baleful energy damaged his foundation and gradually decayed his body. Over time, the Golden Tree purified the core’s harmful energy, though Mu En’s condition could not be reversed. 149

As Sea God Pavilion Master, Mu En became Shrek Academy’s central stabilizing figure. He viewed the academy’s future pragmatically, recognizing both the looming superiority of Sun Moon Empire soul-guidance technology and Shrek’s internal stagnation. 16 152

When Xiao Yan arrived at Shrek, Mu En sensed an unusual harmony between the eleven-year-old and the world around him. Rather than judging Xiao Yan solely by his rank, he recognized the youth’s “Dao” and potential, then personally gave him a Sea God Pavilion token. 4

Mu En had also rescued Zhang Lexuan after the destruction of her family left her without the will to live. He initially imposed an engagement to Bei Bei as a responsibility that would compel her to continue living. He later admitted that he had selfishly maintained the arrangement to bind her talent to Shrek and ensure she would protect Bei Bei and the academy. Before relinquishing his position, he annulled the engagement and acknowledged the moral burden he had placed upon her. 150

Mu En was an extremely aged, frail man whose body had been eroded by the backlash of the Radiant Dragon Core. He commonly rested in a wooden or wicker recliner within Sea God Pavilion. 63 149

Personality

Mu En was perceptive and measured. He assessed people by their temperament, presence, and long-term potential rather than superficial cultivation levels; this was why he immediately treated Xiao Yan with respect despite his age. 4

He upheld Shrek Academy’s honor but was not blindly loyal to its traditions. He condemned Xuan Zi’s attempt to suppress and assassinate Xiao Yan, considering such conduct no different from the disgraced Spirit Hall’s treatment of dissidents. 63

In his final days, Mu En showed clear-eyed pragmatism. He accepted that Shrek could not survive by clinging to old glory, protected his great-grandson from burdens he could not bear, and restructured the academy for a changing continent. 149 152

He was capable of recognizing his own selfishness. In releasing Zhang Lexuan from her engagement, he openly admitted that his original effort to save her had become a means of keeping her bound to Shrek. His decision to free her coexisted with his determination to entrust her with the academy’s future. 150

Although he took life and death calmly, Mu En remained deeply attached to the people he had raised. After his apparent death, seeing Yan Shaozhe and the other Elders grieving nearly moved him to reveal his survival and comfort them. Mu En’s apprenticeship contract established a subordinate bond between his soul and Electrolux’s. He signed it with blood essence containing his soul origin; the completed contract formed an enduring connection that prevented his soul from dispersing with the decay of his physical body, provided Electrolux continued to exist. 151

The contract offered a potential path to accompany Electrolux to the God Realm. Further comprehension of the Laws of Light might also allow Mu En to obtain a light-attribute divine inheritance, though neither ascension nor such an inheritance had yet occurred. 151

Soul Spirit Creation

Within the Undead Demiplane, Mu En became responsible for processing Essence Souls supplied by Xiao Yan. He placed ice-blue Essence Soul spheres from the Extreme North into a conversion array and infused them with Light Soul Power, producing living ice-attribute Soul Spirits in succession. 202

His work formed part of the Fuxi Dao Sect’s organized production system alongside Electrolux’s pill refinement. Later, Snow Empress delivered a batch of Evil Eye Clan Essence Souls from Evil Demon Forest for Mu En to process as well. 202

Alchemical Understanding

Mu En observed Xiao Yan’s nine-hour refinement of nine Primordial Realm-Breaking Pills alongside Electrolux. He agreed with Electrolux’s interpretation of alchemy as microscopic, law-based energy sculpting and gained a deeper understanding of how precise control reconciles conflicting medicinal forces. The demonstration established his exposure to alchemical principles, but did not show him independently refining pills. 198

Mu En met Xiao Yan shortly after his arrival at Shrek Academy. He recognized the youth’s extraordinary harmony with nature and gave him a Sea God Pavilion token, offering future guidance despite admitting that Xiao Yan’s zither path was beyond his ability to teach. 4

Ma Xiaotao’s Evil Fire Crisis

When Ma Xiaotao’s Evil Fire threatened to corrupt her into an Evil Soul Master, Mu En suppressed it with Radiant Sacred Dragon power and negotiated with Xiao Yan for treatment. He offered the Taixu Sound-Suppressing Hou soul bone and personally guarded Xiao Yan’s absorption of it after Ma Xiaotao was healed. 28 30

Mu En also isolated the Pavilion hall throughout the delicate purification. He and Yan Shaozhe were shocked when Xiao Yan fused four Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Rings into a single Hundred-Thousand-Year ring to perform Lock Rhythm: World Purification. 29

The soul bone had originally been obtained by Mu En’s grandmaster, who killed the Taixu Sound-Suppressing Hou but suffered fatal damage to his physical foundation from its final sonic attack. Successive Pavilion Masters had kept the bone sealed because they could not find a suitable inheritor. Mu En judged Xiao Yan’s ancient zither martial soul compatible with its spatial and sound-control domains and offered it to match the risks of treatment. 28

Conflict Over Xuan Zi

After Xuan Zi orchestrated an unfair assessment against Xiao Yan, Mu En furiously reprimanded him. He ordered Xuan Zi to deliver the Time Sundial Needle as an apology and rejected the suggestion that Shrek assassinate Xiao Yan to remove a future threat. 63

When Xiao Yan and his companions left Shrek without completing withdrawal procedures, the Pavilion Elders argued over blame and possible pursuit. Mu En silenced them by asking where Xuan Zi was, redirecting attention to the unexplained disappearance of the academy’s Rank 98 Super Douluo. 68

When Xiao Yan later confirmed that Xuan Zi had died after attempting to kill him, Mu En regarded the death as Xuan Zi’s own fate. He acknowledged that even a Rank 98 Super Douluo could not survive after provoking the Snow Empress. 148

Final Reforms of Shrek Academy

As his body neared its end, Mu En offered Xiao Yan control of Shrek through the Sea God Pavilion Master position. Xiao Yan declined, declaring Shrek too small for his ambition to unify the continent and establish his own divine throne. Mu En accepted this reality and gave Xiao Yan the Radiant Dragon Core. 148 149

Before making the succession public, Mu En released Zhang Lexuan from her engagement to Bei Bei and privately entrusted her with the Pavilion Master position. He stipulated that she must obey Xiao Yan’s commands unconditionally, including any future order to disband Shrek, treating cooperation with him as the academy’s final chance of survival. 150

Mu En then convened Sea God Pavilion’s Elders, named Zhang Lexuan as successor, redirected resources toward soul-guidance development, and ordered Shrek’s neutrality in the coming war. 152

Apprenticeship and Departure

Xiao Yan revealed that Mu En’s body could not be repaired but that his soul could survive through a contract. Mu En eagerly became Electrolux’s apprentice, binding his soul to the future Mage God. 151

After completing his final arrangements, Mu En allowed his physical body to crumble into light. Xiao Yan secretly transferred his soul to Electrolux’s Undead Demiplane, where Mu En intended to assist with research into the Laws of Light. 152 153

The academy’s Elders remained unaware of his survival. Although Mu En felt pained by their grief, he departed without revealing himself, finally setting aside the burdens that Shrek had placed upon him. 153

Light Core Research and Xiao Yan’s Return

During Xiao Yan’s prolonged seclusion, Mu En assisted Electrolux’s research into light and death. Their work produced the Light Core, whose radiance transformed Electrolux’s undead army into intelligent Radiant Undead rather than destroying them. 196

When Xiao Yan returned to the demiplane after two and a half years, Mu En and Electrolux initially expected little more than a breakthrough to Titled Douluo. Instead, Xiao Yan demonstrated a God-Level physique and spiritual power, extremely pure Divine Power, and dragon wings containing the Water-Fire Taiji Law. While Electrolux refined batches of pills, Mu En converted Essence Souls from the Extreme North into ice-attribute Soul Spirits using a conversion array and his Light Soul Power. He approached the work with enthusiasm and satisfaction at seeing the souls receive new life. 202

Xiao Yan supplied additional materials from the Star Dou Forest, and Snow Empress later retrieved Evil Eye Clan Essence Souls from Evil Demon Forest and delivered them for Mu En to process. His work supported the sect’s preparations to introduce its Soul Spirit system to the continent. 202
