Background / History

Twenty years before accompanying Lin Yuan into Sunset Forest, Du Busi visited the forest during his first attempt to break through his limits. He intended to absorb poison from the Green Scale Seven Absolute Flower’s miasma, but an overwhelming sense of danger stopped him. Concluding that the area had an owner capable of crushing even a top-level expert, he abandoned the attempt 24.

Du Busi became Lin Yuan’s body-refinement master after Ning Zhiyuan arranged contact between them. Lin Yuan knelt outside the Body Sect’s mountain gate for three days and displayed his complete martial soul; Du Busi then accepted him and wholeheartedly taught him body-refining methods and combat techniques 17.

The apprenticeship also connected the Body Sect with the Nine Treasures Glazed Sect. Together with the Body Sect’s existing connection to the Heavenly Soul royal family through Wei Na, it established a secret three-way alliance 17.

Personality

Du Busi is a demanding but protective teacher. He subjects students to drowning, suffocation, and deep-sea pressure to force breakthroughs, yet becomes visibly anxious when Lan Fozi carries Lin Yuan underwater. He also captures the Earth Cave Demon Dragon himself rather than risk sending Lin Yuan into a cave near dangerous poison miasma 22 23 24.

He values talent without assuming that younger cultivators must remain beneath their predecessors. Watching Lin Yuan and his companions train, he cautions Cao Xin against judging their future achievements through the older generation’s perspective. His admiration is accompanied by regret that these promising children do not possess Body Martial Souls 17.
