Cheng Xiao struggled to open his weary eyelids. A simple, tidy room came into view.
The unfamiliar layout and furnishings left Cheng Xiao momentarily stunned. Then he woodenly turned his head and saw Ye Lingling asleep beside his bed.
Her slightly innocent cheeks were squashed out of shape against her arm, making her look a little baby-faced. Her curled lashes traced a beautiful arc, and her fair skin bore a faint rosy flush, as moist and tender as a peach.
"Hm?"
Cheng Xiao felt an unusual sensation in his right palm—soft and smooth—and could not help giving it a squeeze. Looking down, he saw that even in her sleep, Ye Lingling was holding his hand without letting go.
The movement of his hand woke the sleeping girl. Ye Lingling's delicate body trembled, her curved lashes fluttered twice, and then she laboriously raised them, revealing slightly dazed eyes. Framed by those hook-like lashes, they had a hazy quality.
Ye Lingling rubbed her eyes, seemingly not yet awake. Suddenly, her arm froze. She abruptly looked at Cheng Xiao, her eyes widening in disbelief as she blinked. Cheng Xiao found it amusing and blinked back at her.
"Ah! You're awake?!" Ye Lingling cried out.
"Yeah, I just woke up."
Ye Lingling became somewhat excited. The next instant, she noticed that her hand was still clasped with Cheng Xiao's. Her tender fair cheeks flushed crimson at a visible speed, and even her ears burned. She hurriedly pulled her hand away, her gaze darting about, then turned and fled the room as though escaping, tossing back, "I'll go get Grandpa."
Seeing her slightly flustered appearance, Cheng Xiao smiled.
Before long, several people filed inside. Besides Ye Renxin, Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan crowded in as well.
"You're awake? Brat, tell me, who did this
