Background

Shen Nanxun was found by the Shen family on the seaside when he was one year old, surrounded by a lingering colorful halo. His only possession was a jade pendant. Though not biologically related to the family, he was raised as its sole male descendant and deeply cared for by Shen Yue, Shen Xing, Ye Li, and Elder Shen 3 30.

At six, he was mocked for possessing only rank-two innate soul power and apparently lacking a martial soul. During a seaside body-tempering outing, Evil Soul Masters attacked his class. Injured and near unconsciousness, he encountered Qian Renxue, who identified herself as his first Soul Spirit 1 2.

Qian Renxue revealed that his Thousand Forms Martial Soul contains five Soul Spirits, with one awakening for every twenty levels of soul power. Each Soul Spirit can provide two soul rings and functions as a martial soul in its own right 2 3.

Leng Yaozhu later disclosed his biological origins. His mother, Leng Yunling, was Leng Yaozhu's adopted daughter and married a prince of the Douling Empire.
