Holy Son Hall.
Su Yun had no idea he'd already been dancing on the edge of death.
He lounged without a shred of dignity on a soft couch covered in Snow Fox fur, one leg crossed over the other. He tossed a glistening grape into his mouth.
"Ptooey!"
Su Yun spat out the skin and stretched with satisfaction.
"I finished the diary, got all my complaining out of my system, so it's payday, right? System?"
As soon as the words left his mouth, the crisp mechanical voice rang out right on cue.
[Beep! Congratulations, Host, on completing your first diary entry. Evaluating the Law of Causality...]

Su Yun froze for a moment, then erupted with joy.
Holy crap!
This system was the real deal. When it handed out cheats, it actually delivered!
Before he could react, a warm current surged from his dantian, sweeping through his entire body like a burst dam.
It hurt!
But it felt amazing, too!
It was as if every cell in his body had been tossed into the Eight Trigrams Furnace of the Supreme Lord Laozi and reforged.
Su Yun couldn't help letting out a muffled groan as his robes stirred in a wind that wasn't there.
Then, a blinding golden light burst from his body.
It wasn't ordinary light, but holy radiance imbued with divinity, majesty, and the power of judgment.
Behind him, light and shadow intertwined, slowly forming the immense phantom of an angel.
But this angel was different from the Qian Family's Six-Winged Angel. It held a greatsword wreathed in golden flames in one hand, and balanced a golden scale in the other.
Judgment Angel!
Master of judgment, scourge of evil!
Two Soul Rings slowly rose from beneath his feet.
The first was deep purple: a thousand years!
The second was black: ten thousand years!
A ten-thousand-year Soul Ring right from the start?
If Yu Xiaogang, that useless piece of trash still researching the First Soul Ring's limit of four hundred and twenty-three years, saw this, wouldn't he bash his head against a block of tofu and die on the spot?
Su Yun clenched his fist, feeling the surging power within him, vast as the sea. The corner of his mouth curled into a crooked grin worthy of a Dragon King.
"So this is level twenty Innate Soul Power? This is a divine-grade Martial Soul?"
"I'm set!"
"As long as I keep my head down, develop in secret, and don't get cocky, by the time I become a Titled Douluo, what Tang San, what Clear Sky Sect? They'll all be leeks ready for the harvest!"
Just as Su Yun was losing himself in the intoxicating thrill of growing stronger—
Boom!
The sacred, immense aura was simply too powerful. It burst uncontrollably through the roof of Holy Son Hall and shot into the sky as a pillar of golden light.
The entire Spirit City was instantly shaken.
Countless Soul Masters looked up in shock toward Pope Mountain.
"Is that the aura of an angel?"
"No, it's even more overbearing than the Great Enshrined's angelic aura!"
"Who awakened?"
Inside Pope Palace.
Bibi Dong had just been about to set out for Holy Son Hall when she stopped abruptly.
She whipped around, her gaze piercing through the thick walls toward Holy Son Hall nearby.
That aura was sacred and immense. It even stirred a trace of instinctive fear in the Rakshasa Divine Sense inside her.
"Su Yun?"
Shock and suspicion deepened in Bibi Dong's eyes.
That timid, useless boy had been hiding such power?
Was the arrogant, lecherous, scheming fellow in the diary his true self?
"Good. Very good."
Bibi Dong drew a deep breath, and an inscrutable, chilly smile appeared on her face.
"You've been hiding your strength well, my dear disciple."
"I'd planned to kill you and nip this in the bud. But now, keeping you alive might be more interesting than killing you."
She swept her sleeve, transformed into a streak of purple light, and vanished in an instant.
Holy Son Hall.
Su Yun had just reined in his aura and was still savoring the thrill of controlling that power.
Suddenly, the great hall's doors swung open without a sound.
There were no footsteps, but an oppressive presence surged inside, so tangible it was suffocating.
Every hair on Su Yun's body stood on end.
He turned around stiffly and saw an incomparable beauty standing in the doorway.
Bibi Dong.
Backlit, her expression was impossible to make out. Only her pale violet eyes were visible, deep as an ancient well, fixed intently on him.
She seemed to be holding a black book.
Holy crap?!
Su Yun's heart skipped a beat.
What was that?
Why did it look so familiar?
Could it be my diary?
Wait, didn't the system say nobody but me could see it?
Su Yun's mind raced, but he immediately put on a look of utter alarm, dropped to one knee with a thump, and moved with a practiced grace that almost inspired pity.
"Your disciple, Su Yun, pays his respects to you, Teacher!"
"I didn't know you were coming, Teacher. I failed to welcome you properly. I deserve to die!"
With acting like that, lines like those, and a kneel that fast, the Oscars owed him a little gold statuette.
Bibi Dong said nothing. She simply watched him perform.
Looking at the boy before her, whose face was full of respect and whose eyes were clear (or so he pretended), while recalling the diary's foulmouthed pest who kept calling her an "old woman" and a "love-struck idiot"—
The stark contrast struck Bibi Dong as so absurd that she almost found it funny.
She walked slowly into the hall, her high heels clicking against the marble floor. Every crisp tap landed like a footstep on Su Yun's heart.
Bibi Dong stopped in front of him and looked down from above.
"Get up," she said, her voice giving nothing away.
"Was that aura just now yours?"
Su Yun lowered his head, not daring to meet her eyes (mostly because he was afraid she'd see through him—and partly because he was afraid her abundant evil might distract him), and answered respectfully:
"Teacher, this disciple was fortunate enough to gain some insight. It seems my Martial Soul has mutated."
"Mutated?"
Bibi Dong gave a light laugh, the sound edged with amusement and danger.
She leaned forward slightly, extended a long, slender finger, and lifted Su Yun's chin, forcing him to meet her gaze.
They were so close that Su Yun could smell the chilly sandalwood scent clinging to her, along with a faint trace of her body's fragrance.
Bibi Dong stared into his eyes. Her red lips parted, her breath sweet as orchids.
"Was it merely a mutation?"
"I thought you'd come across some extraordinary opportunity—even learned all of this Palace's secrets."
Su Yun's pupils contracted.
I'm done for.
She was hinting at something!
She definitely knew something!
Just as cold sweat broke out on Su Yun and he frantically tried to think of a convincing lie, Bibi Dong suddenly let go.
She straightened up, once again the lofty Pope, as if her probing had been nothing but an illusion.
"Now that your Martial Soul has evolved, train well."
"In a few days, go to Notting City."
Su Yun stared at her, dumbfounded.
"Notting City?"
Bibi Dong turned away from him, the corner of her mouth lifting in a cold curve.
"Go see Yu Xiaogang, the Grandmaster who has you so completely besotted. No, just 'Grandmaster.'"
"I'd like to see whether he really is as useless as certain people say."
With that, Bibi Dong didn't linger. She strode toward the exit.
Su Yun remained kneeling on the floor, utterly bewildered.
Certain people?
Who?
Me?
Wait, why did that black book in her hand look more and more like my diary?!
Su Yun swallowed and tentatively called out in his mind:
[System, are you sure I'm the only one who can see the diary?]
System: [...]
Su Yun:
Say something! Don't play dead!
Watching Bibi Dong's retreating figure, Su Yun suddenly felt that this soft life might be a little hard to swallow.
"This isn't a winning hand right from the start. It's a funeral pyre right from the start!"
Su Yun thought, heartsick.
As long as I have no morals, you can't kidnap me?
Bullshit!
Now that Bibi Dong had that diary in her hands, she could kidnap me whenever she wanted!
"No, I'll have to turn it up a notch."
Su Yun got to his feet, his eyes gradually growing resolute (and increasingly shifty).
"Since I've been found out, I can only keep bluffing to the bitter end!"
"Bibi Dong, just you wait. I'll talk you into knots!"
He pulled out the diary again and, picking up his pen, wrote his second entry:
[That scared the life out of me. Dong'er gave me such a look just now, I thought she was about to murder her own disciple.]
"But seriously, her skin is really nice up close..."
Just after leaving Holy Son Hall, Bibi Dong stumbled mid-step.
As if she'd sensed something, she took out the diary and glanced at it. A vein in her temple began to throb cheerfully.
"Su! Yun!"
"You just wait!"
Before you continue
