Background / History
Tang San arrives at Notting Junior Spirit Master Academy with Old Jack in patched clothing and poor physical condition. At the academy gate, Yu Xiaogang verifies his certificate and takes an interest in Tang San's twin spirits. Tang San chooses Yu Xiaogang as his teacher, trusting his theories and treating the master-disciple bond as absolute. 5 6
His conflict with Su Yun begins when Xiao Wu accepts Su Yun's carrot and invitation to live at his villa. Tang San immediately develops a possessive attachment to Xiao Wu, interprets her choice as a personal loss, and swears revenge on Su Yun. 8 11
At Notting Academy, Tang San's frustration over poverty, work-study duties, and Xiao Wu's loyalty to Su Yun pushes him into a challenge. Xiao Wu defeats him in a single move with Waist Bow, further damaging his pride. 12
Tang San later follows Su Yun to Shrek Academy and the Star Dou Forest in an effort to regain Xiao Wu and reclaim opportunities he believes belong to him. His failed sneak attack on Su Yun with poisoned Bone-Piercing Nails alienates Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing, while Shrek's prospective core members leave with Su Yun. 36 39
In the Star Dou Forest, Tang San severely injures a Human-Faced Demon Spider after a desperate battle. Su Yun intervenes, claims the spider's Soul Ring and External Soul Bone, and purifies the Eight Spider Lances into the Wings of Judgment. The loss becomes a defining source of Tang San's physical pain, resentment, and psychological collapse. 47 49 60
Tang San continues pursuing Su Yun to the Sunset Forest, only to lose access to the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well's herbs, Dugu Bo's support, the Lovesick Heartbreak Red, and the Blue Silver Emperor seed identified as his mother, Ah Yin. 61 64
Su Yun later strips Tang San of his Tang Sect secret arts and memories, reducing him to a level-20 Soul Master. Tang San and Tang Hao are sentenced by Spirit Hall; Tang San is ordered to spend his life as a slave apprentice at a Notting City blacksmith shop. 69 72
After his power is drained and his Clear Sky bloodline removed, Tang San accepts abyssal power to seek revenge. He becomes an Abyssal Apostle and eventually a complete Abyss Puppet, but Su Yun defeats and kills him. 74 80 83
Tang San subsequently reincarnates through increasingly fragile forms: a ten-year Sausage Lizard, a first-year earthworm, and a half-year mushroom. Despite these transformations, his desire for revenge remains intact. 92 94
Appearance
Tang San initially appears as an undernourished boy in coarse, patched clothing. His appearance deteriorates drastically as his setbacks accumulate. 5 47 60

Personality
Tang San is stubborn, proud, and intensely attached to the belief that his talent and future are being unfairly denied. He remains loyal to Yu Xiaogang even after public humiliation and criticism of the Grandmaster's theories. 6 13 14
His attachment to Xiao Wu rapidly becomes possessive. Rather than accepting her choice to stay with Su Yun, Tang San repeatedly frames Su Yun's relationship with her as theft and makes recovering her central to his pursuit of power. 8 11 47
Repeated losses turn his determination into jealousy and obsession. He resorts to a poisoned sneak attack against Su Yun, pursues dangerous opportunities while severely injured, and eventually accepts abyssal corruption for the possibility of revenge. 36 47 59 80
