If you cannot solve the problem, you can solve the person who caused it.
In fact, even with mental preparation long in advance, Lan Ze was still somewhat surprised. Tiamat was clearly the earliest god to appear in Mesopotamia, yet she knew almost nothing about this land... She even knew less than he did as an outsider.
But thinking about it later, Lan Ze understood why.
Long before the earth was carved out, Tiamat had already been exiled into the Imaginary Number World, sleeping eternally as a useless object of this planet. Having spent all this time in that void Imaginary Number World where nothing existed, how could she possibly know about the changes in the outside world?
However... all of this would soon come to a conclusion.
"What was that just now?" Tiamat followed beside Lan Ze, yet she still harbored lingering resentment toward that leopard person.
"That's the Leopard Person... Although she looks like she's just wearing a mascot suit, she's truly a genuine leopard person," Lan Ze explained.
Tiamat wore a half-dazed and half-understanding expression.
They later went to a nearby village. The local residents did not know Tiamat's identity and warmly entertained them. After enjoying a free meal there, they left.
The next day, Lan Ze took Tiamat to the Persian Gulf, which was nearly eight hundred kilometers away from Uruk. It was right here that he had mistakenly wandered into Tiamat's dreamscape before.
They walked along the shore. Lan Ze had thought that if he confessed his feelings in this kind of atmosphere, it would be a guaranteed success, and he indeed went through with it, but a rather awkward thing happened.
...Because Tiamat was distracted gazing at a lonely boat under the sunset by the beach, she failed to hear what Lan Ze said.
Re-confessing was certainly an option, but upon further reflection, Lan Ze felt that confessing wasn't strictly necessary.
A mother is a mother, a girlfriend is a girlfriend... separating the two was quite nice.
By the third day, early in the morning, just as Lan Ze woke up holding Tiamat, he heard hurried noises coming from outside the door. Opening it, he saw Ishtar standing outside, blurting out, "That Golden Flash wants you two to get to the King's Hall right now!"
King's Hall.
At this very moment, everyone had gathered here. The magic array to sever the connection between Tiamat and Gorgon had already been constructed. Ishtar and the Feathered Serpent God stood to the side. This momentous ritual could not afford any deviation; once it failed, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Tiamat was actually still trapped in a dreamscape at present, and if anything went wrong with the magic, she would wake up from the nightmare, and by then... no one would be able to stop her anymore.
"Prepare to start the ritual!"
Gilgamesh grasped the King's Scepter, his gaze falling upon Merlin.
This scene looked quite historical. Two of the possessors of the multiple Clairvoyance abilities were gathered here at this moment, with several Heroic Spirits and two goddesses standing aside to keep watch. Should any enemies invade, they could respond in a timely manner.
However, with the League ofersion of the Three Goddesses collapsed and the final boss right inside the King's Hall, there were no longer any so-called enemies to speak of.
Tiamat stood in the corner of the King's Hall. She gently hugged one of Lan Ze's arms, her gaze fixed intently on the gradually activating magic array and Gorgon inside it.
Her expression was as gentle as usual, quietly gazing at this scene.
"What's wrong? Are you thinking about something?" Lan Ze turned his head slightly, looking into Tiamat's bright, beautiful eyes and asking softly.
Tiamat shook her head gently. She leaned close to Lan Ze's ear and said in a very quiet voice, "Thank you."
"What are you thanking me for?" Lan Ze was somewhat confused.
"The date, and everyone," Tiamat said softly.
"You don't need to thank me for such a small matter. If you want to go on dates after this, I can take you out again," Lan Ze replied just as quietly.
Tiamat smiled silently, her gaze locked directly onto Lan Ze as if she wanted to carve his face into her mind and hide it deep within her memories.
This world was completely different from the one she had known a very, very long time ago, but she did not feel lonely at all right now.
There were many wonderful things in this world. Although the age of gods had ended, humanity had led the world into an even more prosperous era.
Humanity could propagate on its own, and in such a wonderful world, there was indeed no need for the Creation Mother Goddess to create those bizarre-looking "children."
"After this, I will go back by myself," she suddenly lowered her voice and said.
Lan Ze froze for a moment, as if he hadn't quite understood what she said.
"If I stay here, I'll only cause trouble for everyone later," Tiamat continued.
"Once I return to that world, everyone won't have to worry anymore."
Her gaze was even gentler and calmer than usual, yet Lan Ze was stunned.
It turned out that this Creation Mother Goddess wasn't actually all that naive and clueless; it turned out she had thought about many things as well.
She understood her own physical condition better than anyone else. Once the seal on her Spirit Origin was lifted, if she did not return to the Imaginary Number World to sleep, this world would be destroyed by her, the Beast of Regression.
Humanity could propagate on its own, and those bizarre "children" she had created were no longer needed by this planet.
She no longer had anything left to give to her children. The established ecosystem did not need this Creation Mother Goddess, and the last thing she could do was leave this place.
Once she returned to the Imaginary Number World, the world would be at peace, and Humanity's Order would be saved.
How simple it truly was. This Creation Mother Goddess didn't need to do anything at all; she herself was the greatest obstacle, so as long as she eliminated herself, Humanity's Order would be saved.
How ironic to think about it... The Creation Mother Goddess who created everything ultimately needed to do not create, but destroy herself.
"After you go back, I might not be able to see you ever again," Lan Ze said suddenly.
"And if you just leave like this, everyone will forget about you in the future."
Tiamat was slightly taken aback; she was clearly at a loss, seemingly unable to understand why this usually gentle child had suddenly turned so harsh.
"I won't..." After a long while, she spoke in a small voice, yet she was clearly somewhat uneasy.
"You will," Lan Ze interrupted her. "Humans are very forgetful creatures. Maybe after you leave, everyone will miss you at first, but after that, you won't be in their lives anymore. It's impossible for them to remember you all the time. Maybe someday, a very, very long time from now, they'll suddenly remember: Oh, it seems I used to know a mother of creation."
Lan Ze continued, "This world will be fine no matter who is missing, because the Earth will still spin all the same."
Tiamat looked blankly at Lan Ze. Her lips parted and closed several times, but for a moment she didn't know what to say.
Suddenly, a strong ache welled up in her nasal cavity, as if some warm liquid was about to spill from her eye sockets.
"That's why you have to stay," Lan Ze said once more.
"I will take you away from here," he gently stroked Tiamat's cheek. "When the time comes, I'll take you to the apartment where I live. It doesn't matter how long you want to live there... There's a short stack landlord who doesn't let other people stay at my place, but I'll explain it clearly to her, and she'll agree."
"By then, we can even go on dates in worlds with many high-rise buildings and watch movies, just like the anime you watched before," Lan Ze said softly. "We can also go eat barbecue, go to amusement parks, and do all the plot events from the anime you've watched."
After remaining bewildered for a long time, Tiamat finally slowly raised her head. Her eyes flickered with a faint radiance, which seemed to be a beautiful hope for the future, yet she still appeared somewhat timid: "Is that really okay?"
A Beast, could something that hinders Humanity's Order also be allowed to remain in this world?
"Of course. When the time comes, after you leave Uruk, I'll come pick you up," Lan Ze said with a smile.
Once Tiamat exited the game, her Beast Spirit Origin would be sealed. As long as she was willing, she would never have to draw upon her Spirit Origin again.
"After I leave, where can I find you?"
Lan Ze thought for a moment and smiled. "Trust me, we'll see each other very soon by then. I'll come find you."
The sunlight outside the window seemed to slowly shift. Not far in front of them stood the two Caster candidate stand-ins, joining forces to sever the connection between the Beast Goddess and the Creation Mother Goddess.
The bright sunlight fell upon Tiamat's cheeks, casting a warm sheen over the woman's fair skin. When she raised her head, her eyes were filled with the beautiful hope and radiance of the future as she gazed at her child.
No... At this moment, she seemed to be looking at him as more than just a child, and those gentle eyes vaguely held a radiant hint of joy.
Her lips parted slightly, as if she were about to say something.
The silent wheel of light in the high altitude unfurled soundlessly and rotated slowly, a beam of light mixed with a destructive aura plunging down from the sky.
A trace of blood blossomed before Tiamat's eyes, and crimson, warm blood splattered across her face.
The dazzling wheel of light rotated slowly. The King of Magecraft, or rather, the Beast that had borrowed the shell of the King of Magecraft, hovered in mid-air, its indifferent eyes sweeping over the people on the ground.
Its target of attack was neither Tiamat nor Lan Ze, but--
Gorgon!
Within the magic circle, Gorgon's pupils dilated abruptly as she slowly lowered her head to look at the bloody hole blasted through her chest.
A second, and even a third and fourth terrifying beam of light descended from the high altitude, forcefully blasting open the ceiling of the King's Hall. The light beams pierced consecutively through Gorgon's chest, and scarlet blood splattered onto the ground.
At this moment, the entire world seemed to grow completely quiet. The man in mid-air looked down indifferently at the crowd below, his cold eyes filled with pity:
"Fulfill your mission properly, Beast of Regression."
No one had anticipated this sudden turn of events. Merlin's expression shifted slightly as he abruptly raised his head to look at the man in mid-air. Gilgamesh's complexion was equally atrocious, staring fixedly at the figure of that King of Magecraft in the sky.
Ishtar even snapped out of her brief daze instantly, soaring up from the ground riding Ma'anna, while the Feathered Serpent God's emerald eyes burned with an unquenchable fury.
"Bastard--"
Yet the King of Magecraft seemed to have prepared in advance. The moment Ishtar flew into the air aboard Ma'anna, he had already vanished from view, leaving only the wheel of light suspended in mid-air, spinning slowly under the sunlight and radiating a dazzling brilliance no less bright than the sun itself.
Boom!
Right at that moment, the ground began to vibrate faintly, and everyone felt this sense of tremor.
"Mother, calm down! Mother!"
Everyone in the King's Hall heard Lan Ze's urgent shout. They whipped their heads around to look at the woman standing quietly in the corner.
Lan Ze gripped Tiamat's shoulders tightly, but the originally gentle woman was now slowly clutching her head. Her skin was gradually being covered by dark blue-black scales, and her once gentle face steadily grew terrifying and ferocious.
"Aaaaaaa!!!!"
Tiamat kept her eyes tightly shut, letting out an angry song.
At the same time, a piercing alarm siren resounded throughout Chaldea.
"Extremely massive magical energy detected, that is... coming from Tiamat! Mashu, Ritsuka, evacuate the King's Hall quickly!" Romani braced both hands against the desk, his gaze locked dead onto the screen before him.
Just then, Tiamat abruptly snapped open her beast pupils, devoid of the slightest emotion. Her body was covered in pitch-black scales, a pair of wings resembling steel blades quietly unfurled on her back, and complex black-and-red intertwined patterns appeared across her skin.
At this moment, she was no longer the gentle Creation Mother Goddess, but a Beast.
Beast II, the Beast symbolizing the Principle of Regression... and the destruction of Humanity's Order!
"Get out of here!"
Ishtar finally jolted awake, screaming as she pulled Lan Ze away from Tiamat's side. In an instant, the entire hall descended into chaos. Gilgamesh quietly tightened his grip on the King's Scepter, numerous Heroic Spirits gazed upon Tiamat with heavy vigilance, and even the usually carefree Merlin wore an expression of utmost solemnity.
The tremors of the ground grew more intense. Tiamat's cold beast eyes turned toward Lan Ze, and she let out a very soft, quiet growl. Then, as her body continuously expanded, the next moment, she spread her wings, took flight from the King's Hall which had already transformed into ruins, and vanished from view.
"Your Majesty! A massive number of demonic beasts have been discovered outside the city gates!"
Giving almost no one a moment to catch their breath, a Uruk soldier rushed frantically into the hall. After reporting the situation outside the city, he sensed that the atmosphere here had plunged to a freezing point.
"Things have come to this, our only option now is to find a way to stop Mother," after a long silence, Merlin's deep voice broke the stillness.
Originally, when he saw Lan Ze, he had once believed that the future he foresaw would change. But now it seemed that the so-called rewriting of the future only changed the process, while the ultimate destination had actually remained unchanged from the very beginning.
Their actions, and the efforts they made for the future, were merely branching points, yet the ultimate ending of those branching points was identical.
...Just like that young girl, the king whom the people called heartless, the tragedy had been predestined the moment she pulled the Sword in the Stone.
Merlin took a deep breath, then slowly exhaled.
Since the fall of Britain, this was only the second time he had felt this kind of oppressive weight.
Boom!
The brilliant and warm sunlight from earlier was now overcast with dark clouds, the ground had cracked open to varying degrees, and the Divine Tower looked as though it were on the verge of collapse.
"We need to get out of here first!" Ishtar said urgently.
Gilgamesh spoke up, "Everyone evacuate the Divine Tower first!"
The priests and everyone else inside the Divine Tower evacuated one after another. Lan Ze was pulled along by Ishtar as they ran out of the tower.
And shortly after they left the Divine Tower, that towering structure finally collapsed with a thunderous crash.
"--Aaaaaaaa--"
In the distance, Tiamat's hair-raising song could faintly be heard. The tremors of the ground grew increasingly intense, and everyone looked up toward the distant, indistinctly visible colossal figure.
That was the true form of the Mother of Creation, a Beast, the Beast symbolizing the Principle of Regression!
Then, they heard the cheers of the demonic beasts... No, those were not demonic beasts, but Lahmu, the mass-produced "children" of Tiamat.
Lan Ze stared blankly at the massive figure in the distance. He felt as though he were standing alone in a silent world. For a fleeting second, he seemed to snap back to clarity as countless chaotic noises poured madly into his ears and shifting flashes of imagery sped past before his eyes.
The uneasy whispers of the people, Gilgamesh's flawless commands, Ishtar's anxious shouts, the cheers of the Lahmu, and the Heroic Spirits who volunteered to buy time and stall Tiamat's advance.
No one had anticipated this sudden situation, but they all suppressed every shred of unease in their hearts. Failure meant failure; for the sake of Humanity's Order, they had only to start over and stop Tiamat.
Right at that moment, a rectangular box popped up before Lan Ze's eyes.
