Background / History

Shrek Academy is based in Shrek City, where it holds exceptional influence and is regarded as the city's central power. Jing Chen chose to live far from its eastern-city location because of the many powerful experts within the academy. 13

The academy publicly claims neutrality in continental conflicts. Jing Chen believes it would oppose, rather than assist, any attempt to unify the continent, as aiding such a cause would conflict with its stated reputation. 12 Despite this stance, it later pressures the Dou Ling Empire, supports collateral branches of the Heaven Spirit Royal Family in a bid to change its ruler, and is suspected of backing rebels against the empire. 145 146 282 325

Its historical prestige is tied to its godly ancestors. Shrek is described as the only surviving place on the continent known to have produced gods, with many prospective students hoping to follow in Tang San's path. 129

The academy's graduates are spread throughout the continent and can be recalled in wartime. During the campaign against the Reincarnation Shop, returning graduates added more than a dozen Titled Douluo to Shrek's forces. 376

• Shrek reduced annual admission slots for Dou Ling Empire soul masters from roughly three hundred to one hundred. 150

Conflict with the Reincarnation Shop

Recruitment of Jing Chen

After the Soul Tool Automobile attracted the Soul Tool Department's interest, three Shrek teachers met Jing Chen and attempted to recruit him as a specially admitted core disciple. They offered exceptional treatment despite his age and the lack of an enrollment period. 32

Jing Chen refused. The teachers attempted to pressure and provoke him, then referred the matter to Yan Shaozhe. Yan later visited Jing Chen personally, seeking to assess his Martial Soul and offering resources including high-grade soul rings, soul bones, and Titled Douluo guidance. 33

Escalation

After Jing Chen killed Shrek trackers, Yan Shaozhe sent Hong Yun, a Rank 93 Title Douluo, and Fan Sen, an Rank 88 Soul Douluo, to kill him. Both were trapped by Yi Yi's Space Imprisonment and killed. 105 106

Mu En subsequently designated the Reincarnation Shop an enemy force. Shrek began intelligence gathering and sent two Titled Douluo to investigate the shop in Wu Ling City. 107 Jiang Shaojian, a Sea God Pavilion elder, and Zhang Jun, a reserve elder, were later killed there, prompting Shrek to dispatch Xuan Zi, Yan Shaozhe, Xian Lin'er, and other Titled Douluo. 110

The expedition ended disastrously. Shrek lost Xuan Zi, five Super Douluo, and three ordinary Titled Douluo in the battle against the Reincarnation Shop's forces. 127 128

Political Retaliation

Following the conflict, Shrek treated the Dou Ling Empire's support of the Reincarnation Shop as hostile conduct. It threatened the empire, imposed sanctions, and secretly sought to install a more compliant ruler through collateral royal branches. 145 146 150

Jing Chen later deduced that Shrek intended to reduce Dou Ling pressure and use a reshaped empire to support a larger siege against the Reincarnation Shop and Yi Yi. 282

Tournament Participation

Shrek entered the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Soul Fighting Tournament with fourteen members: seven main-team members and seven reserves. Its dangerous mission to the Ming Dou Mountain Range had been canceled due to the academy's earlier personnel losses. 161

Attack on Shrek City

Jing Chen brought Huo Yuhao to Shrek City's East Gate, where Shrek's powerhouses attempted to surround him and Yi Yi. Yan Shaozhe ordered the defensive barrier activated as Yi Yi prepared an overwhelming attack. 313

Yi Yi's strike destroyed the city's defensive barriers and nearly devastated Shrek City. Shrek's defenders survived only by combining their strength with Sea God Island's intervention. 314

Yan City Defeat

Shrek assembled nearly fifty Titled Douluo with the Clear Sky Sect and Sea God Island to attack the Reincarnation Shop and the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger. Shrek itself fielded twenty-five Titled Douluo, including numerous returning graduates. 376
