Background

The Xu Family recruited Immortal Seedlings to reinforce its cultivation base. Recruits could marry into the clan and were rewarded according to the number of descendants with spiritual roots they produced, making lineage expansion a formal part of the family’s strategy. 1

Its estate spans dozens of miles along the Black Water River. Mortal relatives live in mundane towns, while cultivators reside around the family’s spiritual veins. Core personnel and late-stage Qi Refinement cultivators use the high-grade first-tier vein; lower-ranking cultivators share the mid-grade vein. 24

During the Great Reclamation, the family seized low-grade spirit mines and contested Wilderness resources. Its gains eventually included a second-tier spirit land, which it chose to offer to the Purple Extreme Sect rather than risk conflict with stronger neighboring powers. In return, the sect promised future Foundation Establishment opportunities. 28 60

Rise to Foundation Establishment

The Xu Family’s rise was accelerated by its cooperation with the Spirit Fox Mountain Liu Family. Liu cultivators intervened against the Chen Family and the disguised Qiu Family force, helping prevent the Xu Family from being overwhelmed. The Chen Family’s principal forces were later destroyed, although survivors continued retaliatory attacks. 47 71

When tensions with the Qiu Family escalated, Patriarch Xu Xuheng concealed the identity of the clan member attempting Foundation Establishment. The Qiu Family attacked, believing Xuheng himself to be vulnerable during a breakthrough; instead, Xuheng remained in the estate to stabilize the clan while his younger clan brother Xu Xujun successfully established his foundation. 95

Xuheng had surrendered his own Foundation Establishment opportunity—both a Foundation Establishment Pill and spiritual item—to Xu Xujun, whom he judged to have better prospects. The decision permanently ended Xuheng’s own chance to advance, but secured the family’s elevation. 171

Qiu Family Feud

The Qiu Family occupied much of the former Chen Family territory, creating an immediate territorial dispute with the Xu Family. As the Xu Family grew, the Qiu Family attempted to suppress it through provocations, raids, and attacks designed to interrupt its Foundation Establishment plans. 95 121

The feud intensified after the Qiu Family ancestor gravely injured Xu Hanji’s dantian while escaping from Xu Xujun. The Xu Family sealed itself, investigated possible traitors, and searched for methods to preserve Hanji’s future. 187

Lin Changheng later killed the Qiu Family Patriarch and its old Foundation Establishment ancestor. With the enemy’s strongest figure dead, the Xu Family launched its final campaign, exterminated the Qiu Family, and moved into its second-tier spiritual land. 242 243 252
