Background / History

Di Tian belongs to the Black Dragon Clan, the Dragon God’s enforcers responsible for maintaining order among dragons. The clan’s reputation for honoring its word helps persuade the Five Elements Kirin to trust his promise of rescue 141.

Twenty thousand years earlier, Di Tian already possessed several hundred thousand years of cultivation and stood far above the then-Hundred-Thousand-Year soul beasts Da Ming and Er Ming. Ten thousand years before the novel’s events, he was hailed as “Number One Under Heaven” and fought the future Spirit Ice Douluo, Huo Yuhao, though he lost 10 223 315.

World rules restricted his subsequent growth but did not leave him completely stagnant. By his visit to the Kirin Ancient God’s Small World, he displays nearly nine hundred thousand years of cultivation 10 140.

Personality

Di Tian places loyalty to Gu Yue Na above his own uncertainty. When Bi Ji questions whether Yun Ze can be trusted, he admits that he does not know, but insists that they must support their lord’s decision unconditionally. He later accepts severe injuries to shield Gu Yue Na from a heavenly tribulation 2 87.

His service to the Soul Beast Clan requires deliberate restraint. Although naturally free-spirited and accustomed to disregarding other people’s lives, he limits the range of his power during a confrontation with Zhang Geyang to avoid harming civilians and damaging Dragon Phoenix Hall’s reputation 111.

That restraint does not make him benevolent. He orders an immediate ambush on his old acquaintance Da Ming, executes hostile soul beasts, and participates in coordinated attacks intended to leave no surviving enemies. His hesitation over killing fellow soul beasts gives way to obedience to Yun Ze’s orders 144 146 321 549.

Di Tian enjoys challenging opponents. During his duel with Yun Ming, his excitement grows as he recognizes an adversary strong enough to let him fight seriously. Against Huo Yuhao, however, battle enthusiasm becomes personal hatred: he regrets not killing him ten thousand years earlier and attacks without restraint 177 636.
