Background / History

Shrek Academy was renowned throughout the continent; even ordinary people knew its name and its stories alongside those of the Tang Sect. It was widely regarded as the continent’s number one academy and a sacred destination for young Soul Masters. 48 85 310

The academy’s historical standing rested on major contributions attributed to it, including resistance against the Spirit Hall, beast tides from the Star Dou Great Forest, Abyss demons, and the Sun Moon Empire. Shrek later invoked these achievements to defend its independence and public standing. 202 386

Shrek City operated with autonomy despite standing on Federation territory, possessing its own laws and remaining outside direct Federation management. The Federation had long viewed this arrangement—and Shrek’s extensive influence—as a threat to its authority. 265 365

Influence and Organization

• Shrek’s graduates occupied high-ranking positions throughout the Federation, including within government and several military legions. Its decisions could therefore influence nearly half of the Federation government’s voice. 153

Conflict with Sun Moon Royal Academy

Shrek students led by Tang Wu Lin came to Sun Moon Royal Academy to challenge its strongest students under twenty. 45

The challenge ended in humiliation when six-year-old Yun Ze, using Two-Word Battle Armor, defeated five Shrek students alone. Wu Zhangkong conceded on the team’s behalf to prevent further injuries. 54 55 The defeat damaged Shrek’s public reputation and caused widespread doubts about its claim to be the continent’s foremost academy. 85

Shrek later faced Sun Moon Royal Academy in a competition semifinal and lost every documented match: three one-on-one contests and the two-on-two match. 122

Conflict with the Dragon Phoenix Hall

Early escalation

Shrek’s conflict with the Dragon Phoenix Hall intensified after the latter was accused of kidnapping Wu Lin. Shrek’s actions during the dispute caused civilian deaths and injuries, for which it issued a public apology and compensation plan. 73

The Dragon Phoenix Hall retaliated economically by refusing to sell pills and metals to Shrek-associated people. Its purchasing agreements prohibited buyers from joining Shrek, while restrictions on Longevity Pills affected Shrek City’s commercial appeal. 73 84

Shrek responded by pressuring herbal merchants to stop supplying medicinal herbs to the Dragon Phoenix Hall. 84

Poison Pills scandal

Shrek used its connections and public-relations resources to portray the Dragon Phoenix Hall as a producer of poisonous pills, causing the Hall’s sales and reputation to collapse. 153

Gu Yue Na later extracted a confession from Ya Li that Shrek had orchestrated the Poison Pills incident to frame the Dragon Phoenix Hall, seize its pill formulas, and force it out of Mingdu. The revelation caused Shrek’s public image to collapse. 194 196

To contain the damage, Shrek’s leadership planned to place responsibility on Yun Ming, Ya Li, and other involved members while making a nominal public apology. The academy subsequently revoked Yun Ming’s position as Sea God Pavilion Master, expelled him and other implicated members, and apologized to the Dragon Phoenix Hall. 200 202

Open war

Following assassinations of Shrek council members, Shrek dispatched sixteen Titled Douluo led by Yun Ming toward Mingdu to confront the Dragon Phoenix Hall. 166

The conflict continued to erode Shrek’s strength and reputation. Public anger over further attacks associated with Shrek created an opening for the Federation Government to propose nationalizing Shrek City and placing Shrek Academy under government jurisdiction. 364 365

Federation Nationalization Crisis

The Federation Speaker proposed reclaiming Shrek City, ending its autonomy, and subjecting Shrek Academy to government control. He argued that Shrek’s past contributions did not excuse its danger to Federation stability. 365

The proposal passed with more than eighty affirmative votes. 366 Shrek and the Tang Sect formally resisted, arguing that their independence had long been recognized because of their historical contributions to the continent. 386

The dispute escalated when five Federation legions and the War God Hall supported Shrek and the Tang Sect against the Speaker. The Speaker accused both organizations of using military pressure to retaliate against nationalization and pursue control over the Federation. 390

Destruction

As the Federation advanced on Shrek City, the city activated its defensive array. 442 459 The Mountain Dragon King then crashed into Shrek Academy, overwhelming its defenses and devastating the academy grounds; the resulting shockwave destroyed buildings within one li and severely damaged those farther away. 459

Shrek’s surviving students and teachers counterattacked alongside other defenders, but faced overwhelming enemy power and coordinated Federation military operations. 460 476

The Federation Army ultimately occupied Shrek City. Shrek Academy and the Tang Sect headquarters were destroyed, with most members killed or captured; survivors on Sea God Island were believed to be among the few who escaped. 502

Some additional Shrek and Tang Sect survivors later hid in a shelter beneath Sea God Lake. 508
