Background / History

Ah Yin and the Clear Sky Sect

Ah Yin was a 100,000-year Blue Silver Emperor who had taken human form. She met Tang Hao and Tang Xiao, and the three became sworn brothers before Tang Hao and Ah Yin entered a relationship. 142

When Ah Yin’s identity was discovered by Spirit Hall, Qian Xunji led Chrysanthemum Douluo, Ghost Douluo, and other soul masters against her and Tang Hao. Tang Hao had already reached level 90 but still needed a ninth soul ring. Ah Yin sacrificed herself so that he could obtain her 100,000-year soul ring and become a Title Douluo. 142

Using the newly gained power of the Clear Sky Hammer, Tang Hao fought Spirit Hall for three days and three nights, severely injuring Qian Xunji and the other attackers. He then left with Tang San, Ah Yin’s Blue Silver Grass seed, and the soul bone she left behind. 142

The Clear Sky Sect subsequently expelled Tang Hao and sealed the sect. He took Tang San to Holy Soul Village, where he lived in seclusion and supported himself through blacksmithing. 142

Raising Tang San

Tang Hao recognized that Tang San’s behavior was abnormal from childhood. Tang San knew cultivation methods and hidden-weapon techniques from another world, and Tang Hao suspected that he was not truly his biological son in the ordinary sense. However, after Tang San awakened the Blue Silver Grass and Clear Sky Hammer as Twin Martial Souls, Tang Hao accepted him because he saw a possible path to revenge. 143

Tang Hao remained emotionally distant from Tang San during his childhood. Later accusations revealed that he had neglected the child, leaving Tang San to handle housework and cooking while Tang Hao drank and lived in seclusion. 585 607 608

Conflict with Spirit Hall

Tang Hao’s hostility toward Spirit Hall centered on Ah Yin’s death and his conflict with Qian Xunji. He later became an enemy of Su Chen, whose attacks left him severely injured. 217 434

When Tang San and Tang Hao sought the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, Tang Hao relied on Tang Yuehua for assistance and attempted to reconnect with the Clear Sky Sect. Tang Yuehua repeatedly warned him and Tang San to remain in seclusion, but they ignored her advice. 176 182 232

Tang Hao’s weakened condition became obvious in Heaven Dou City. While claiming to be the Clear Sky Douluo, he was challenged and slapped by a guard because he lacked the Soul Power expected of his reputation. Yu Xiaogang and Flender stopped him from retaliating, knowing that forcing his damaged body to fight could have fatal consequences. 196

Tang Hao and Tang San were later captured and tortured. Qian Renxue’s forces extracted two of Tang Hao’s soul bones, leaving his strength greatly reduced. 209

Sea God Island

Despite his injuries, Tang Hao accompanied Tang San and Yu Xiaogang to Sea God Island so Tang San could pursue the Sea God’s inheritance. By the time they arrived, Spirit Hall had conquered the island and renamed it Angel God Island. 430 434

Six Title Douluo ambushed the group. Guangling Douluo’s attack and Ghost Douluo’s probing assault confirmed that Tang Hao was effectively crippled. The three travelers were captured alive and kept for further humiliation and interrogation. 431 433 434

Return to the Clear Sky Sect

After Tang San’s rebirth, he found Tang Hao severely crippled, with almost all of his Soul Power gone, one arm and one leg severed, and another leg ruined. Tang San immediately began searching for a healing Soul Master. 463

Tang Hao later reunited with his grandfather, Tang Chen, when Tang San awakened the King of Slaughter and restored Tang Chen’s memories. Tang Hao hoped Tang Chen could help protect the Clear Sky Sect and oppose Spirit Hall. 570

When Tang San returned to the Clear Sky Sect, its elders confronted Tang Hao over the disaster he had caused. They accused him of attacking Qian Xunji, disappearing afterward, abandoning the sect during its retaliation, and leaving the disciples to bear the consequences. 584 585

Tang Hao was unable to refute the accusations. Tang San knelt and accepted responsibility for his father’s actions, after which Tang Chen appointed Tang San as the new Sect Master. 585

Destruction of the Clear Sky Sect

Spirit Hall later attacked the Clear Sky Sect with overwhelming forces. Su Chen’s army crushed the sect’s defenses, defeated the Sea God, and annihilated the Clear Sky Sect before it could leave its mountain stronghold. 599 606

The surviving elders blamed Tang Hao for the sect’s destruction. Tang Yuehua confronted him publicly, accusing him of failing his father, Tang Xiao, Ah Yin, Tang San, and the Clear Sky Sect. She also revealed that she had warned Tang Hao and Tang San to disappear before the catastrophe occurred. 607 608

Tang Hao was left kneeling in shame, unable to deny her accusations. Su Chen permitted him and the others to live temporarily, but later allowed Clear Sky Sect disciples and Jade Family members to humiliate him before ordering executions of remaining sect members. 615 616

In a later conversation, Tang Hao expressed his wish to be buried in the Clear Sky Sect’s ancestral cemetery beside Tang Xiao, declaring that he wanted to remain a member of the sect even in death. 762

Personality

Tang Hao is proud, combative, and deeply attached to the Clear Sky Hammer. Before his injuries, he trusted the hammer’s reputation and his own destructive power, dismissing Su Chen as a weak soul master who merely possessed flashy techniques. 75

His combat style reflects that confidence. He is willing to detonate multiple soul rings and fight powerful opponents directly, even when doing so places his body under severe strain. 132 134

His loyalty to revenge repeatedly overrides his responsibilities. He accepted Tang San despite suspecting that Tang San was a transmigrator because he believed Tang San could help avenge Ah Yin and restore the Clear Sky Sect. 143

Tang Hao’s relationship with responsibility is one of the central criticisms directed against him. He disappeared after the conflict with Spirit Hall, failed to return to defend the Clear Sky Sect, neglected Tang San, and never properly addressed Ah Yin’s sacrifice.
