Background / History

Early life and Shrek period

Tang San is a transmigrator who cultivated the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record from childhood. He possesses the Blue Silver Grass and Clear Sky Hammer as Twin Martial Souls, a talent Tang Hao believed would ensure Tang San would never be inferior to others. 68 75

During the early Shrek period, he became increasingly hostile toward Su Chen, whose martial arts and ability to neutralize his poison challenged Tang San's confidence. He secretly prepared the Seven-Step Gut-Severing Family Gratitude Gift, a poison needle meant to kill Su Chen before his otherworldly secret could be exposed; Xiao Wu was instead poisoned in the resulting incident. 70 75

Tang San's attachment to Xiao Wu repeatedly drove his actions. He recklessly chased after the Titan Giant Ape when it took her away and pursued a Man Faced Demon Spider despite lacking his third soul ring. 95 When Xiao Wu chose to leave him and become Su Chen's maid, he could not accept her decision. 130

Defeat, imprisonment, and failed inheritance

After being targeted by Su Chen and Spirit Hall, Tang San sought the Sea God's inheritance as a route to revenge. The Asura God appeared to him after a near-fatal encounter, explaining that his dual-soul body and Purple Demon Eye had preserved his life and directing him toward the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud and Sea God's legacy. 135

He was later captured in Heaven Dou's Heavenly Prison, where Prince Xue Xing interrogated and tortured him over the alleged theft of the national treasury. Tang San refused to confess and demanded to see Crown Prince Xue Qinghe. 191 Qian Renxue's forces subsequently extracted his right-arm and left-leg soul bones; Tang Hao also lost two soul bones. 209

Tang San, Tang Hao, and Yu Xiaogang attempted to awaken his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline by burning Blue Silver Grass territory to force out the Blue Silver King. The plan provoked the Blue Silver King's attack before Tang Hao revealed Tang San's lineage. 341 The trio later reached Sea God Island only to find it conquered and renamed Angel God Island, losing their expected path to the Sea God's inheritance. 430 434

Rebirth and exposure

After Ah Yin apparently killed him, Tang San revived in an injured state as the future Tang God King. He concealed his condition by claiming amnesia, then killed the healing Soul Master who treated Tang Hao and Yu Xiaogang to prevent Spirit Hall from discovering their location. 463 466

His future knowledge allowed him to expose Qian Renxue's identity as the Spirit Hall spy disguised as Xue Qinghe, including details of her Angel-family spirit bones and childhood infiltration of Heaven Dou. 531 His abnormal knowledge and behavior ultimately led others to identify him as being possessed by the future Tang God King. 537

Tang San became the Clear Sky Sect's Sect Master and pursued an alliance with the Heaven Dou and Star Luo Empires against Spirit Hall. 585 680 He remained committed to defeating Su Chen, reclaiming Xiao Wu, and overturning Spirit Hall's growing influence. 468 686

Unsealing and return to godhood

Su Chen sealed both Tang San's Divine Power and body, leaving Tang San unable to oppose Spirit Hall directly. 735 To break the seal quickly, Tang San chose to castrate himself and cultivate Yu Xiaogang's modified rapid-progress technique. 736

The method removed his seals and caused his strength to surge. Tang San claimed to have immediately mastered the technique and entered seclusion to restore the strength of his previous life. 737 By the time he reappeared, his presence had reached God King level, though his cultivation had drastically altered his body and appearance. 744

Appearance

Following his cultivation of Yu Xiaogang's modified technique, Tang San's appearance changed so radically that observers initially failed to recognize him.

  • Appeared as a petite, refined woman in red robes. 744
  • Carried a half-embroidered tapestry of rivers and mountains. 744
  • Adopted heavy makeup and a stylized red-robed appearance alongside Tang Hao, Yu Xiaogang, and Dai Mubai. 744

Personality

Tang San is intensely proud and refuses to view himself as inferior. Tang Hao's reassurance after Su Chen's early victories reinforced his conviction that, as a wielder of Twin Martial Souls, he would eventually surpass every opponent. 75

His devotion to Xiao Wu and resentment toward Su Chen shape much of his later conduct. Xiao Wu's departure, Su Chen's relationship with her, and the loss of the Sea God inheritance each deepen his fixation on revenge. 130 434 468

He is also calculating and ruthless when protecting his secrets or pursuing survival. He abandoned Yu Xiaogang to carry Tang Hao to safety, justified the decision as a necessary choice, and later murdered a healing Soul Master to conceal his rebirth. 302 466
