It was hard to imagine that everything before his eyes was actually a world of the mind.
Breathing in, Li Su sensed the scent and humidity in the air, virtually no different from reality, and could not help but feel surprised.
To achieve this degree of realism, the so-called mental world had to possess terrifying intensity. The spiritual power within was likely as tangible as substance itself, and vast beyond measure. Otherwise, it could not have deceived even Li Su's soul without letting him detect the slightest anomaly.
Li Su's gaze shifted as he looked around himself once more.
It had to be said, the place was rather hair-raising.
Where he stood was covered in clusters of withered trees. They had not withered and died; they had simply grown this way by nature.
What was even stranger was that these trees resembled arms.
They stretched out from the earth as though grasping at something with bare hands, clenching with tremendous force. Veins bulged along the shriveled trunks, crawling all over the backs of those hands.
The sky above was dim and murky. Black clouds hung low and heavy, so close to the ground that they seemed to cover the entire forest.
Nor was that all. The surrounding terrain was equally peculiar. As far as the eye could see, there was none of the usual rise and fall of rocky mountains. Instead, it looked like water brought to a rolling boil.
Viewed from above in three dimensions through divine sense, it did not even seem like a mountain forest.
It was more like being inside a pot of boiling water, enough to make one shudder.
Every now and then, if he looked up, he could spot flashes reflected deep within those lid-like clouds—glimmers like the eyes of some living creature.
