Background

Li Xiaoyao first appears as a newly arrived Outer Sect disciple at Early Golden Core. Although he presents himself as friendly and deferential toward Ye Lin, Ye Lin’s panel identifies him as a Smiling Tiger: outwardly refined but inwardly dark-hearted, with a tendency to harm those close to him. His original projected destiny was to stagnate at peak Mahayana before dying in the Boundless Sea to three Mahayana sea beasts. 148

Qingfeng True Person recognizes a bond of fate with Li Xiaoyao and accepts him as a true disciple. Li later works in the Inner Sect’s points-trading business and operates a flying-ship trade, concealing considerable wealth behind an intentionally modest residence. 157 314 315

During the Outer Sect assessment, Li Xiaoyao requests Ye Lin’s protection for himself and Li Qingyu, whom he calls practically his dao companion. In exchange, he offers Ye Lin a valuable item from his own collection. 175
