Ye Lin agreed to protect Gu Qingzhi’s group for ten years, while the Big Black Dog sought his help and recognized Luo Yao as a key to its release.

• Ye Lin left his companions to investigate Death's End City alone, where he found the Eight Wastelands Qi-Devouring Cauldron and awakened a zombie in a purple-gold coffin.
• Ye Lin killed three Buddhist cultivators and destroyed Death's End City with a lightning sword strike, while Li Xiaoyao and the others encountered multiplying Food Beasts in the Silent Plains.
• Li Xiaoyao and Gu Qingzhi found refuge in Li Chen’s village, where they learned that Heavenly Chan, a plant True Spirit, protected the villagers from the Food Beasts.
• Gu Qingzhi discovered that the Food Beasts feared life force, then agreed to protect Heavenly Chan as it neared human transformation and played the zither while Wang Tian prepared medicinal liquids for it.

Ye Lin freed the Black Emperor, who began preparing him for a long remaking and sent him to gather rare treasures. Ye Lin stole two of the required treasures and reached the Snowfield in search of the Heart of Vastness, where Buddhist Sect visitors also confronted the divine beast Vastness.

• Ye Lin and his companions broke the formation sealing the black dog, who revealed himself as the Black Emperor and offered to train Ye Lin.
• The Black Emperor gave Ye Lin’s companions manuals and guidance, then told Ye Lin to focus on the sword and gather resources for his remaking.
• After Li Xiaoyao found a divine bone and the vegetation spirit completed its tribulation, Ye Lin declared that he wanted strength enough to live freely.
• The Black Emperor gave Ye Lin a list of rare resources, and Ye Lin went to Great Wasteland Mountain to obtain the Heavenly Heart Flower.

• Ye Lin helped Vastness break free of Heartless’s treasures, and Vastness killed Heartless before giving Ye Lin the Heart of Vastness.
• Ye Lin traveled to the Black Sea, then joined Baili Changhong’s group and helped suppress three Mirage Dragons with his thunder powers.
• After one Mirage Dragon died, Ye Lin took its reverse scale and left the Black Sea.
• Ye Lin met the divine woman on Divine Mountain, who offered him a Jade Ring Fruit if he killed a man she could not identify or locate.

After the sect destroyed the City of Rebirth and hunted him for centuries, Ye Lin reunited with his companions and agreed they needed to leave the realm.

• At Xu Xian’s wedding, Liu Shuangshuang returned to the Myriad Dharma Buddhist Sect under its Buddha’s influence, leaving Xu Xian behind despite his protests.
• Ye Lin pursued the sect’s monks, escaped Myriad Forms’s Buddha Kingdom in the Palm, and hid in Giant City while Buddhist forces surrounded it.
• Tang Cheng led Ye Lin to the young man at Mo Xing Mountain, and Ye Lin brought him to Divine Mountain, where he transformed into the Jade Ring Tree and the goddess removed the sect’s tracking mark.
