Ten minutes ago.
"Buzz, buzz, buzz!"
Across the distant southern horizon of Snow City, a streak of bright red tinged with dark gold cut through the clouds, flying straight toward the Soul Guidance Emergency Center on the outskirts of the city.
"Oh? You arrived quite quickly; it only took half a day."
Hearing the humming from above, Dong Zi'an raised his thick eyebrows with a smirk and walked out of the makeshift command center with Li Jie.
"Clack!"
With a heavy, dull thud, a God-rank red mecha engraved with profound patterns descended from the sky and landed steadily on the ground. A middle-aged man with a lean build but a large frame stepped out from the cockpit.
"Old Dong, hurry up and tell me, where is that genius you mentioned in your previous transmission? Although I haven't seen him yet, I can already feel that he is destined for my sect."
Seeing Dong Zi'an appear, the middle-aged man's brownish-yellow eyes lit up instantly. After carefully tending to his mecha, he strode forward.
As he walked, a surge of overwhelming blood energy radiated faintly from his body, causing even the biting cold wind passing by to weaken significantly.
So this is the current Sect Master of the Body Sect? Seeing is believing; this formidable physique looks as if every single part has been tempered to the absolute limit.
Li Jie, following behind Dong Zi'an, narrowed his eyes in shock, but he shook his head slightly upon noticing the chef's white uniform the man was wearing.
Indeed, the person who had arrived was none other than the current Sect Master of the Body Sect, the Body Douluo Mu Ye—a top-tier chef.
"Old Mu, what's the rush? I see you've replaced the rear wings of your mecha again? The performance must have improved quite a bit, right?"
Dong Zi'an didn't answer, pointing instead at the red God-rank mecha behind Mu Ye.
Like him, Mu Ye was a God-rank mecha pilot; the two had formed their bond originally because of their shared profession.
"Of course. Did you think I was as careless with my mecha as you are?"
At these words, the corners of Mu Ye's mouth curled up, as if the mecha were his most precious treasure.
"Then what about your old one?"
Dong Zi'an continued to ask.
"The old one... no, wait, I'm asking you where the person is! Where is the future prodigy of my Body Sect? Stop trying to distract me with this small talk."
Mu Ye's brows locked together, his tone hurried and his eyes burning with intensity.
His Body Sect had reached a precarious point; if they didn't absorb fresh blood soon, he would truly be the only one left to feed, with no one else to worry about.
If he could recruit this Body Sect genius with dual ultimate martial souls into the sect, his Body Sect could continue for another hundred years.
"The person is here, of course, but I cannot let him join your Body Sect directly."
Dong Zi'an's gaze flickered as he shook his head slightly.
"Old Dong, listen to me. You can't handle a prodigy with a Body martial soul; let me do it! I can develop his Body martial soul to the maximum extent."
"Or, if you have any demands, just name them."
Upon hearing this, Mu Ye immediately began to plead earnestly, indicating that he would do anything as long as the genius with the Body martial soul was handed over to him.
"I can let you teach him, but he cannot go with you directly. Your cultivation is still too low."
Dong Zi'an remained calm, refusing once more.
He knew Mu Ye's personality well. If he gave Jiang Xiu to Mu Ye now, Mu Ye would undoubtedly run off with him without a second thought, which would be a net loss for him.
Therefore, he had to suppress Mu Ye first to prepare for what was to come.
"What kind of talk is that? Cultivation is cultivation, and strength is strength. Is my strength lacking?"
Mu Ye looked as if he had been poked in a sore spot; his face flushed, but he spoke defiantly, his stature appearing even taller as dense blood energy surged within his body.
"Old Mu, are you trying to play rough? I don't buy that."
A green shadow flickered in Dong Zi'an's eyes as the phantom of a fierce, fanged green wolf emerged, glaring viciously at Mu Ye.
"Old Dong, it's not that I don't want to give you face, but I am taking the person today, no matter who tries to stop me! That's final!"
Mu Ye's shoulders trembled as he spoke with firm resolve.
"Old Mu, don't push it. Do as I say, and everything will be fine. If you dare to use force, I'll blast you with the military's Level 10 fixed-soul ammunition and send you and your mecha flying together!"
Dong Zi'an stepped forward, an invisible aura of slaughter radiating from him as he shouted in a deep voice.
"Creak!"
Just as the tension reached its breaking point, the silver-white doors of the Soul Guidance Emergency Center slid open, revealing a small figure.
"Uncle Dong, what are you two doing?"
Jiang Xiu looked at the scene before him, his eyes clear and questioning.
"Oh! Is this my disciple? Come, hurry and call me Master."
"Master held you when you were little, but so many years have passed that I almost didn't recognize you. Master is taking you back to the sect right now."
The moment he saw Jiang Xiu, Mu Ye seemed to sense something. His face instantly broke into a wide smile as he rushed toward the boy.
"Mu Ye, you rascal."
Dong Zi'an's mouth twitched violently. He was certain that Mu Ye had never seen Jiang Xiu before, yet the man could say such things without even blushing. As expected of a master of body tempering, his skin was thick indeed.
"Alright, let's go inside to talk."
Dong Zi'an flashed in front of Mu Ye, grabbing his shoulder to halt his forward momentum, and spoke indifferently.
"Fine, my good apprentice, let's go inside and talk."
Mu Ye's expression stiffened for a moment, but he quickly returned to normal and nodded slightly, though his gaze toward Jiang Xiu was filled with satisfaction.
He also suppressed the urge to simply abduct Jiang Xiu right then and there; there was no other reason than the fact that he wasn't entirely certain he could defeat Dong Zi'an, who was a Limit Douluo.
As Jiang Xiu looked at Mu Ye before him, his heart stirred slightly.
He certainly knew of the Body Sect. Ten thousand years ago, the Body Sect had been a behemoth ranked in the top three across the entire continent, but now, it had fallen into decline.
There were many reasons for this decline, but in Jiang Xiu's view, one of the major ones was that before Du Busi died ten thousand years ago, he had entrusted the Secret of the Body to Huo Yuhao. Before Huo Yuhao ascended to the God Realm, he hadn't sought out Body Soul Masters, but instead handed the Secret of the Body directly to Shrek Academy for safekeeping...
Judging by what Mu Ye had said earlier, he had come to take him as an apprentice? But Dong Zi'an didn't seem willing...
Carrying a hint of confusion, Jiang Xiu was sandwiched between the two men as they walked into the Soul Guidance Emergency Center.
"I didn't expect the Regiment Commander to be so attentive toward Jiang Xiu, even going so far as to invite this person here. But then again, such high talent naturally shouldn't be wasted."
"I truly wish for our human race to produce more prodigies."
Li Jie sighed with emotion, and on the metal wall opposite him, several red-engraved characters were inscribed: Survival is the primary principle of civilization.
As long as the Abyss Plane was not eliminated, their Douluo Continent would remain in dire straits.
"Six thousand years ago, how exactly did the Abyss Plane discover our Douluo Continent?"
This question had troubled the Federation for a long time, and Li Jie often pondered it, yet there had never been an accurate or authoritative answer.
