Then Kong Bo raised his head and looked toward the host of the Underground Soul Fighting Arena. "Host, sir, can you announce the result of the match?"
The host looked at Locke, who had been burned to ashes, and hurriedly announced the result. "Let's congratulate Mr. Zandik on winning this match."
"Mm, good." Kong Bo turned and walked away. He could feel many hostile gazes coming his way, which was exactly what he wanted. He recalled the Moon Shuttle, then headed out of the arena.
Back at the waiting area, Lin Lang looked grave. "You've really stirred up trouble. Locke was a disciple of a powerful figure behind the Xishui Alliance. The people from the Xishui Alliance are very unhappy with you."
"So what?" Kong Bo shook his head dismissively. "You want to make big money, but you don't want to take any risks? They're welcome to come. There are still some things I need them for."
Now that Kong Bo had fought in a death match and spent two and a half years dealing with "Gundam," he planned to start working on some "projects." Those projects all required "materials," so the Xishui Alliance members would have to do him the favor of contributing a little to his research.
"Let's go," Kong Bo said.
After Kong Bo left, Ye Guyi stared intently at his retreating back, seeming to speak to someone. "Senior, you mean he isn't an Evil Soul Master? Sometimes, Soul Masters without Evil Martial Souls are even more dangerous than those with Evil Martial Souls? All right, this junior understands."
In the days that followed, Kong Bo went to the Underground Soul Fighting Arena every afternoon to fight death matches. More important to him than honing his combat skills was tempering his mind. The "Gundam" training was over, and the training in building Gundams himself had officially begun. His opponents were mostly Xishui Alliance members, and they were stronger than him. After defeating them, Kong Bo naturally showed no mercy, using all kinds of "execution techniques."
For instance, Kong Bo used the Moon Shuttle to fire a freezing ray, turning his opponent into an ice sculpture. Then he recalled the Moon Shuttle and started walking away. After a few steps, he raised his right hand and snapped his fingers, unleashing Ice Explosion on the sculpture. With a bang, it burst apart completely, leaving nothing but a pool of blood.
"Zandik!" "Zandik!" "Zandik!" The spectators screamed his name at the top of their lungs. Compared with the bloody, brutal executions used by previous contestants, Kong Bo's methods were more elegant—but also more cruel and merciless. His opponents were often reduced to nothing. He did this deliberately. Evil Soul Masters could often cultivate by using Gundams, which was why they were so keen to invest in the Underground Soul Fighting Arena. After defeating an opponent, Kong Bo usually ground them to dust, leaving the Evil Soul Masters with nothing to gain.
"This child, Zandik, must not be allowed to live!" Skaven, the Xishui Alliance representative in charge of managing the Underground Soul Fighting Arena, said after watching Kong Bo's match. "Have you investigated his background? Is he connected to the Pingfan Alliance or the Aodu Chamber of Commerce?"
"No," one of the Evil Soul Masters behind Skaven replied.
"Good." Supervisor Skaven grinned savagely. "Then we can't let him live. Otherwise, the Aodu Chamber of Commerce or the Pingfan Alliance might take an interest in him, and then we won't be able to get rid of him. Since he killed His Excellency Nether's disciple, we can kill him and claim credit with His Excellency Nether."
"Yes!"
"Wait!" Skaven suddenly remembered something. "Don't hurt that girl, Lin Lang. She has connections to the Aodu Chamber of Commerce. Make sure she keeps her distance."
Skaven sent twenty people to kill Kong Bo: ten Soul Elders, five Soul Ancestors, three Soul Kings, and two Soul Emperors. In Skaven's view, the fact that "Zandik" had a Soul Tool meant his elders must have some strength. But the flying sword was only a second-grade Soul Tool, so Kong Bo's elders were probably no more than Soul Emperors. This force would be more than enough to kill Kong Bo and his elders.
Meanwhile, Lin Lang was getting Kong Bo and the Evil Emperor ready to get into the car. The Evil Emperor noticed a group of Soul Masters approaching them, so she told Lin Lang to go home first. Lin Lang nodded and left. After all, the Evil Emperor was a Limit Douluo; there was no reason for her to worry about Kong Bo's safety.
Once Lin Lang had driven away, the Evil Emperor spoke to Kong Bo telepathically. "Kong Bo, someone's coming. We'll draw them farther away. The Demon Empress and Lan Fozi are nearby; they'll take care of packing these people up and bringing them back."
Then the Evil Emperor sent a telepathic message to the Demon Empress and the other woman, telling them to get ready at the ambush site. She then led Kong Bo away from the Underground Soul Fighting Arena, and the two walked toward the outer city. The two Soul Emperors leading the group assumed that they had only recently arrived in Ming Capital and had gotten lost. One of them waved a hand, and the Soul Masters began leaping across rooftops, closely following the Evil Emperor and Kong Bo.
Before long, the Evil Emperor and Kong Bo reached a sparsely populated alley—the ambush site the Evil Emperor had chosen. Seeing few people around, the twenty Evil Soul Masters jumped down from the rooftops and surrounded the two of them.
The Evil Emperor looked at Kong Bo. "All right, your turn to speak. Say something impressive. I've spent time in human society, but I'm not as good as you at making a speech."
"Got it, Big Sister Evil Emperor," Kong Bo said. Then he spread his arms and called out to the Evil Soul Masters, "Gentlemen, welcome. I've been waiting for you."
"What an insolent brat!" the leading Soul Emperor said coldly. "You brought this on yourself by killing someone you shouldn't have. And now you're welcoming us? Do you really think your elder is a Titled Douluo or something?"
"All right, you guessed it," Kong Bo replied with a smile. The Evil Emperor obligingly revealed the nine Soul Rings she had created with Simulation. The formidable Soul Power pressure of a Titled Douluo swept across the scene, pinning all twenty Evil Soul Masters to the ground.
"We've been waiting for you," Kong Bo shouted. "Once again, welcome, everyone. You're about to become my test subjects!"
"Test subjects? What's that?" the leading Soul Emperor asked. At that moment, the Evil Emperor snapped her fingers elegantly. Against Soul Masters whose strongest member was only a Soul Emperor, she didn't even need to use a Soul Skill. A blast of mental force was enough to send all twenty Evil Soul Masters into unconsciousness.
"Good." The Evil Emperor pointed at the unconscious Evil Soul Masters scattered across the ground and addressed the Demon Empress and Lan Fozi as they came out. "Let's pack them into the tanks together and take them back with Kong Bo. Then I'll return to the Underground Soul Fighting Arena."
