Description:

The project's location was confirmed by company intelligence agent ■■ Ray at 05:35 on August 17, 1998, Paris time. The company's USS combat squad ultimately subdued and detained it.

According to the company researchers' preliminary examination, the project's bird-beak mask, black robe, black gloves, and boots had all grown from its body.

The project appeared to possess an independent storage space. {See video ① in the attached files for details}.

The project possessed high intelligence, the ability to communicate with humans, and a lifespan far exceeding that of humans. {See video ② in the attached files for details}.

Because the project could transform humans into aggressive Living Corpses through "surgery," the company classified it as Nyx-class.

If left unchecked, the project would cause widespread panic, hindering the company's military operations to control abnormal phenomena.

The project's other properties were unknown and would require repeated experiments using D-Class Personnel to determine.

Aftermath:

The project was responsible for a total of 57 deaths. There were 36 survivors who had witnessed the project and the Living Corpses. Seven of them were seriously injured and needed to remain at the headquarters' Research Center for treatment and observation.

The remaining 29 survivors would have their memories altered using the Hive's latest Neuralyzer.

The six children among the survivors would also receive the company's covert protection for the next six years.

As the city where Umbrella's headquarters was located, Paris naturally had numerous large-scale facilities backed by substantial investment.

These included airports, high-tech industrial parks, university campuses, and science and technology exhibition centers.

Among them, the airport was Umbrella's dedicated military airfield and one of its most important assets in Paris.

The airport had a 3,600-meter runway and housed a large number of medium and large transport aircraft, as well as helicopters of various models. It also had barracks for elite armed security personnel.

Its transport aircraft included the An-124 Ruslan, the C-17 Globemaster III, and the C-130 Hercules.

The An-124 Ruslan had a maximum payload of 150 tons and was Umbrella's main means of conducting rapid transactions with various countries.

The C-17 Globemaster III and C-130 Hercules were primarily used to rapidly deploy armed security personnel, UBCS, USS, and other forces around the world. If the An-124's schedule was full, the C-17 and C-130 could also be used to "haul cargo."

The AC-130 gunship, known as the "Angel of Death," and various models of fighter aircraft, however, were not stationed at this airport.

After all, France wasn't Africa or the Middle East. No matter how powerful Umbrella was, it couldn't deploy attack aircraft, fighters, or bombers in French and Western European airspace.

The airport housed a wide variety of helicopters, mostly MH-6J Little Birds, UH-60 Black Hawks, EC725 Caracals, and CH-53 Super Stallions.

The MH-6J Little Bird was a light helicopter with low noise, a small profile, good infiltration capability, and versatility—qualities that made it a favorite among Umbrella's senior executives.

It could carry six fully armed USS personnel and could also be temporarily outfitted with machine guns, rocket launchers, and anti-tank missiles, allowing Umbrella to carry out assassinations of rival companies in Europe.

As long as Umbrella didn't go too far or act too frequently, the French government turned a blind eye.

The UH-60 Black Hawk was the most iconic medium helicopter, perfectly suited to a wide range of missions.

The CH-53 Super Stallion served as a heavy transport helicopter, capable of rapidly transporting combat personnel and deploying B.O.W.s over short and medium distances.

Finally, the EC725 Caracal was a medium transport helicopter with a role similar to that of the UH-60 Black Hawk. It was also the model used to transport a UBCS company to Raccoon City in the opening of the original Resident Evil 3 game.

Paris was enjoying an unusually sunny day. The August sunshine, nearing midday, had turned the usually cold, damp city sweltering.

Umbrella Airport, on the outskirts of Paris.

A large hangar not far from the barracks.

The hangar blocked out the sun high overhead, keeping the interior cool and comfortable.

One hundred and twenty UBCS personnel sat on black folding chairs in the center of the hangar, wearing white short-sleeved shirts with the red-and-white Umbrella logo on the back, black combat boots, and dark green combat trousers.

Since they hadn't received a readiness order, the UBCS personnel weren't wearing helmets, knee pads, combat vests, or other gear.

Most of them were chatting and laughing. Their conversation was mostly about crude jokes like "How much are we getting paid for this mission?" and "Which red-light district should we hit after it's over?"

A few, however, were discussing more ordinary things.

Carlos Oliveira, a muscular man with wavy hair, was quietly talking with his friend Tyrell Patrick about orphanages and donations.

However...

D-Platoon leader Mikhail Victor, a white-haired man with a weathered face, and fellow white-haired soldier Nicholai Ginovaef, along with other platoon leaders and several others, wore grim expressions.

Dozens of elite armed security personnel, fully armed, were guarding the two entrances at either end of the hangar.

The four platoon leaders, including Victor, were more politically astute than most, and Victor in particular had served in the KGB.

Sergei had summoned them to Paris, but despite having been there for quite some time, they still hadn't seen him.

In fact, due to Sui Bian's lockdown order, no one outside Paris Headquarters and the Hive knew that Sergei, Spencer, and the various board members were dead.

The platoon leaders, who didn't know the truth, and turncoats like Nikolai, whose eyes kept darting about, suspected that this deployment was a trap.

Just as the platoon leaders and the turncoats were wondering how to escape, Sui Bian walked into the hangar wearing a gray suit jacket, accompanied by four Omicron personnel in black suits.

At the sight of Sui Bian, dressed like a senior company executive, the UBCS personnel quieted down and stopped talking among themselves.

Within seconds, the only sounds in the hangar were a few coughs, the footsteps of Sui Bian and his companions, and the intermittent rumble of engines outside.

The five of them stopped in front of the UBCS personnel. A Lieutenant holding a tablet made by Umbrella Digital stepped beside Sui Bian, unlocked the screen, and read its contents aloud in a raised voice.

"UBCS personnel whose names are called, please stand and leave. After exiting the hangar, board C-17 flight UM-006."

As soon as he finished speaking, the Lieutenant continued without giving the UBCS personnel a chance to ask questions. "Mikhail Victor, Carlos Oliveira, Tyrell Patrick, Stino Ray..." The named personnel were confused, but they still stood up, left their folding chairs, and headed outside to wait aboard the C-17.
