Turning around, the Pursuer came face to face with the anomaly.
It was a gigantic centipede.
It was over 25 meters long, about 3 meters wide, and between 4 and 4.5 meters tall.
Excluding its head, it had at least 22 segments, each bearing a pair of long, sharp appendages.
Though it didn't really have a hundred legs like its name suggested, its 44 densely packed "feet" were still more than creepy enough.
The centipede's mouthparts gaped wide as its enormous, pitch-black eyes—twice the size of a wok—stared fixedly at the "little" Pursuer in the middle of the plaza.
There was no helping it. To humans, the Pursuer was a giant, but to the centipede, it could only be called small.
Otherwise, the Zombie Dog and Hunter Alpha wouldn't have been completely helpless earlier. With such a massive size difference, even the Pursuer seemed to be at an absolute disadvantage.
"Hiss~."
The centipede didn't hurry to attack the Pursuer. Instead, it stared down at him and let out a hoarse roar that sounded almost mocking.
As if it were laughing at the Pursuer for being such a little thing.
"Roar------!"
"Ri~bzzzz!!"
The Pursuer, sensing the mockery, roared back defiantly and immediately opened fire on the centipede.
But the armor-piercing 7.62mm AP-FMJ rounds weren't as unstoppable as before.
A hail of bullets struck the centipede's shell, producing dull "thup, thup" sounds. It seemed they couldn't inflict any real damage.
The centipede, which had lived deep in the rainforest, had no idea what a gun was and had never endured such a dense barrage of bullets.
The centipede hissed again, then twisted and jerked its many-segmented body, rapidly scrambling away to dodge the Pursuer's attack.
The hulking creature had clearly been startled.
As it ran, the centipede twisted its rear segments and
