Early in the morning, soft sunlight slanted through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows and spilled into the bedroom.
Luca, deep in a comfortable sleep, let out a soft "humph" and rolled over, wanting to soak in more of the morning sun.
However, the warmth that had been lingering on his face seemed to dim just a little.
Still half-asleep, Luca felt a sense of unease and instinctively opened his eyes.
Immediately, filling his blurry field of vision, a "white dough ball" was squatting right by the bedside, staring at him without moving an inch.
"Holy cow!"
A jolt of icy chill shot from his toes straight to his scalp.
Luca felt it took a monumental effort of will to keep from crying out in a state of undignified shock.
Even though he hadn't shouted, any trace of sleepiness had vanished instantly.
His eyes were wide as saucers, locked onto the Baymax in front of him.
"What are you doing now?!"
"Detected that you were emitting cries of pain during your sleep. I am waiting for you to wake up to provide effective treatment and care." (●-●)
"Cries of pain? Did I have another nightmare? How come I don't remember a thing?"
Now fully awake, Luca propped himself up with his left hand and reached out to fumble for the prosthetic limb he had removed to charge the night before.
"Wait, didn't I modify your startup voice? Oh, right, that modified chip is still downstairs uploading data."
Having figured out the situation, Luca wiped his face haphazardly. As he buckled on the prosthetic limb Stark had crafted, he asked casually.
"So? How do you plan to treat this nightmare situation?"
"Detection results indicate your hormone levels have returned to a stable state."
"...Fine. Next time, remember not to squat by my bed while I'm sleeping; you nearly scared the life out of me just now. Even if you are pretty cute, Baymax."
"Received. Recording new command."
Seeing Baymax like this, Luca took his revenge by reaching out to knead the robot's marshmallow-like belly before finally getting out of bed.
He put on his shoes, washed up, and wandered downstairs.
In the dining room downstairs, Shamira happened to be eating breakfast.
"Young Master, you're up—"
Shamira, just about to greet Luca, immediately noticed Baymax following closely behind him, taking small, shuffling steps down the stairs.
Although she had seen Baymax before and knew this robot could help treat the Mistress, it still wasn't easy to get used to its presence so quickly.
"Morning, Aunt Shamira."
Luca yawned as he reached the dining table, grabbed a warm sandwich from the tray, and stuffed it into his mouth.
"Young Master, let me have someone—"
"It's fine, leave it be. I need to head to the underground lab first. Once I'm done here, we'll set off."
"Very well, Young Master. The commercial armored vehicle I ordered from the company last night should arrive shortly. Please take your time; we have plenty of time."
Luca nodded perfunctorily, took a large gulp of milk, grabbed another sandwich, and dashed excitedly toward the basement.
Down there, the 3D printer in the corner was still chugging away.
Several finished parts had been ejected by the machine and were piled haphazardly on a cushion to the side.
However, after looking at the support structures and connecting plates still clinging to the printed armor pieces, Luca didn't hesitate to decide he would wait until all the components were finished before sanding and calibrating them all at once.
Turning his attention to the computer, the motion data that had been uploading and analyzing since last night was finally complete.
"Heh heh, from today on, you are Agent Baymax~"
Excitedly, a boyish Luca wrote the word "Agent" on a brand-new black chip, then impatiently inserted it into Baymax's chip slot.
As the data finished loading, Baymax, who had been standing there blankly, tilted its head at Luca. Its tone carried a sense of confusion that no robot should possess.
"These combat and tactical maneuvers do not seem to help me become a better medical care robot?"
Hearing Baymax's slightly puzzled voice, Luca laughed and patted its large belly, teasing, "But they can help you protect me better, you know? The best medical care is preventing all possible dangers before the patient even gets hurt~"
Baymax blinked its large, pitch-black eyes a few times, then replied thoughtfully, "Understood. I am Agent Baymax!" (▇━▇)
Luca couldn't help but smile.
He looked at Baymax, then at himself.
"Hmm~ The Fat Guy and the Little Boy? This combo sounds like it packs a punch~"
Although he was dying to test the upgraded Baymax's power right now, he glanced around at the ridiculously expensive lab equipment and decided against starting here.
Calling for Baymax, he trotted upstairs to the courtyard, finally ready to begin the test.
At this moment, Shamira, having finished clearing the dishes, followed the sound out into the courtyard, curious to see what new thing Luca had been busy creating for so long.
"Baymax, it's your turn to perform~"
"??"(●-●)
Seeing Baymax's confusion, Luca slapped his forehead and explained in detail.
"Try out the newly loaded combat module. Start with some Military Boxing."
Upon receiving the precise command, Baymax immediately clapped its hands to its sides and stood at attention.
Following that came the lunge punch, the throat-strike and kick, the horse-stance side strike...
The series of movements were executed with such fierce momentum that one could no longer see a trace of the goofy robot from before.
Amidst the whistling force of its punches, the grass and soil in the courtyard went flying in every direction.
Shamira, standing to the side, was just about to speak when Luca issued a new command a step ahead of her.
"Baymax! That tree!"
Luca pointed casually.
Baymax did not hesitate in the slightest; it kicked off the ground with both feet, launching itself forward like a round, white snowball with a "whoosh."
The next moment.
Baymax threw a fierce punch.
"BOOM—"
A loud crash echoed out.
The tree in the courtyard, roughly the girth of a man, exploded instantly. Thick wooden fibers shattered and scattered as the entire tree slowly toppled toward the swimming pool behind it.
But before the severed upper half of the tree could crash into the water, Baymax had already sprinted over to catch it, then, taking small, measured steps, slowly and steadily placed the treetop onto an empty patch of ground nearby.
Seeing this, the smile on Luca's face grew even wider, and he gave Baymax a thumbs-up without hesitation.
"Impressive!"
At this point, Shamira, who had originally intended to ask for a sparring match with Baymax, stood completely frozen in place.
However, after a moment of hesitation, she couldn't help but blurt out.
"Young Master... that redwood tree probably cost around 20,000 dollars."
