I Am a Robot

"Young Master, are you going to track that person yourself? What if..."

Shamira truly did not want Luca to take any more risks.

Even though these intruders had been dealt with easily today, the fact that the enemy dared to send gunmen to attack the villa so brazenly meant that if they followed the trail all the way to the enemy's lair, the situation would be dire.

"If something were to happen to you, Young Master, how could I ever answer to the Madam!"

In the current situation, Shamira believed the best solution was to call the police and seek their protection.

As for finding the mastermind and exacting revenge, she and the Assassination Squad could handle that together later.

However, Luca shook his head once more at her words.

He raised his hand and tapped the [Tracking Glasses], noting that the tracker was moving away from them at an increasing speed. He estimated that the surviving intruder had reached the parking spot and was already driving away, so he spoke again.

"Aunt Shamira, we are just going to follow from a distance; it's not certain we will even take action."

"Time is tight, so please go get the car."

Seeing this, although Shamira still looked troubled, she ultimately obeyed and turned toward the underground garage.

However, she secretly made up her mind.

Once they tracked the person to their location, she would ensure that Young Master Luca did not act rashly or put himself in danger.

While Shamira went to the garage to get the car, Luca prepared to finish off the remaining intruders.

After a moment of consideration, although the "Castle Doctrine" meant Luca would face no issues even if he killed them all, he decided to leave two of the more decent-looking ones alive.

Firstly, if he failed to gain any intelligence from the one who escaped, he could return to interrogate these two. Secondly, if the police intervened later, it would be more convenient to have credible witnesses.

Given the effect of the [Dominator]'s non-lethal electromagnetic anesthetic rounds, the two lucky survivors wouldn't be waking up anytime soon, leaving plenty of time for interrogation after they returned.

Of course, if he could hurry and catch up to the target to find the true mastermind behind tonight's attack, that would be even better.

However, while finishing them off, Luca was surprised to discover something.

Excluding the one he had intentionally let go and the four killed by Shamira, all the other intruders tonight were merely unconscious.

Most of them had only suffered minor abrasions from the impact, and the unluckiest one among them had only sustained a minor leg fracture.

The common denominator was that Baymax had been the one to deal with all of them.

Turning to look at Baymax, whose eyes were still glowing red, Luca sighed inwardly and gave the order.

"Baymax, deactivate Destruction Mode."

"Received... Hello, Luca."

Whether it was due to his posture or simply the absence of the red light in his eyes, Baymax's entire demeanor suddenly shifted.

Even his eyes, which should have been nothing more than two black camera lenses, seemed to look much clearer.

"I have violated my healthcare protocol. I... have harmed a human."

Baymax's voice remained flat.

But for a fleeting moment, Luca inexplicably heard a hint of... grievance?

"Baymax, you did that to protect me."

After speaking, Luca paused, surprised that such words had come out of his own mouth.

Especially since he was talking to a robot.

A silence fell over the scene, until eventually, Baymax, the robot who "couldn't perceive emotions," spoke first.

"The best medical care is to prevent all possible dangers before the patient is ever harmed."

As he spoke, Baymax extended his large hand and gave Luca a thumbs-up.

This gesture, however, only made Luca fall into a deeper silence.

In fact, the moment he realized all the enemies "dealt with" by Baymax were merely unconscious, Luca had already understood.

Even in "Destruction Mode," Baymax had been doing his best to hold back and avoid harming humans.

Of course, this was also because Luca's previous commands had been vague instructions like "deal with the enemies," "attack," or "throw the tree," and Baymax had not technically violated his orders.

Luca knew clearly that even if he had issued an order to "kill the enemies," the existence of the "Zeroth Law" would have forced Baymax to execute it without reservation.

But...

"Is this really necessary?"

Should he let this goofy marshmallow with an emotion module be the one to take human lives?

"Forget it, this is fine. Baymax, just focus on protecting my life and health from now on." Let the assassins handle the dirty work.

Luca hadn't expected that he, a scoundrel who wouldn't hesitate to take a life when it mattered, would actually want to protect a robot's "innocence."

With a self-deprecating shake of his head and a chuckle, Luca reached out and gently patted the scratched armor on Baymax's body.

The still-confused Baymax tilted his head slightly, blinking his eyes as he watched Luca pat his hand.

"Is Luca concerned about me? I am a robot and do not require psychological counseling." (●-●)

Hearing Baymax say this, Luca smiled once again.

However, compared to the self-deprecating smile from a moment ago, this one was far more natural.

Tsk, this guy claims to be a robot, but in reality, his emotions are far richer than those of many humans.

Just as Luca was inwardly poking fun at Baymax, Shamira had already driven the car out of the underground garage.

Considering that this trip might involve danger, she had once again chosen the bulletproof Cadillac arranged by the company.

However, while this ensured safety inside the vehicle, Baymax's massive frame made squeezing into the car a bit of a problem.

Removing the armor and returning it to the suitcase would certainly be fine.

But if a sudden battle were to break out, Luca would have nowhere to turn if an unarmored Baymax were to be damaged.

Yet, considering they would be tailing someone and didn't know how many busy areas they might pass through, he had to be careful.

After a moment of hesitation, Luca set to work removing several of the larger armor plates from Baymax's body and stuffing them all into the trunk.

"Baymax, put some effort into it! Deflate a little bit, you're almost in! There we go!"

From the driver's seat, Shamira watched the chubby Baymax filling the entire back row, the corner of her mouth twitching imperceptibly, though she ultimately said nothing.

"I just hope no one stops us along the way..."

After getting back into the car, Luca reached out and patted Baymax in the back seat.

Then, Shamira stepped on the gas, and they headed in the direction of Manhattan.
