Xie Xie first appears when he introduces himself to Wu Zhangkong's class as a rank 18 agility-type Battle Soul Master with the Light Dragon Dagger Martial Soul. His exceptional cultivation at a young age immediately distinguishes him from the other students. 35

Xie Xie first challenges Tang Wulin to a duel at East Sea Park, seeking to avenge an earlier humiliation. His superior speed, technique, and century-level yellow Soul Ring allow him to evade Tang Wulin’s Blue Silver Grass and defeat him with the Light Dragon Dagger, though he hesitates before delivering the decisive strike. 37

The duel has unforeseen consequences when Tang Wulin’s soul spirit evolves after being pierced by Xie Xie’s Light Dragon Dagger. Both boys later lose consciousness during an encounter with the Golden Dragon King’s divine sense; Tang Wulin carries Xie Xie back to the academy afterward. 38 39

He is also impulsive and quick-tempered, particularly in arguments with Gu Yuena. Nevertheless, he is capable of gratitude after she saves him from a fatal attack, and he grows into a dependable teammate in coordinated battles. 126 199

Xie Xie has a mischievous, gossip-prone side; his gossip about Xu Mengqing creates an awkward group breakfast. He is also notably lazy in casual settings, immediately falling asleep after arriving at the team’s hotel in Skysea City. 114 158

His confidence can turn into stubbornness. He attempts to endure physical training beyond his limits rather than admit weakness, and he initially insists that agility-focused Soul Masters need only explosive power rather than stamina. 51 52
