The host forcibly changed the subject.
"We all saw you pierce through the bunker with heat vision earlier. The ground within a one-kilometer radius was completely melted. Can you control its power?"
"That was Omega Beams. I can freely control its intensity."
"How much power did you use to destroy Farid's bunker?"
Lu Heng seriously considered it for a moment, then held up three fingers.
"About... thirty percent?"
Surprise appeared in Jessica's eyes.
Thirty percent.
That attack that melted the ground had only used thirty percent of his power.
If Guardian went all out...
Jessica did not even dare imagine it.
She quickly changed the subject.
"Mr. Guardian, we noticed that you brought two young teammates along on this mission. Could you introduce them?"
"They're Cate and Jordan, interns I specifically recruited from Godolkin University."
"Interns? You brought interns on a counterterrorism mission?"
"Of course. I couldn't exactly leave them in the office watching SpongeBob SquarePants, could I?"
The interview had lasted less than ten minutes.
Just as Jessica was about to throw out some explosive questions, the door opened.
Homelander walked in.
He wore his full combat suit, with a brilliant smile and gleaming white teeth, like a walking American flag.
"Hey! I'm not late, am I?"
Homelander strode toward the sofa area and sat down beside Lu Heng.
The host and audience were both stunned.
This was an exclusive interview with Guardian. Homelander should not have been here.
Lu Heng, however, was not surprised.
In fact, nothing Homelander did would surprise him.
As a professional host, Jessica immediately adjusted her mindset.
"Oh! Please give Homelander a warm round of applause! Homelander, welcome to our interview!"
"Thank you, Jessica. I heard you were interviewing my good brother, so I wanted to come support him."
Homelander threw an arm around Lu Heng's shoulders, beaming.
"After all, Guardian is part of our Vought family!"
Lu Heng glanced at him. This guy had practically squeezed him out of his own camera shot.
Here came the clout chaser.
The panel flashed a notification.

"Homelander, what do you think of Guardian's performance yesterday?" Jessica deliberately twisted the knife, clearly enjoying the drama.
"Oh, it was absolutely fantastic!"
Homelander gave a thumbs-up. "Guardian is one of the most powerful superhumans I've ever seen. What he did yesterday showed the whole world Vought's strength!"
"As his good homie, I'm proud of him!"
Homelander's smile was flawless, and his tone sounded sincere.
If not for the emotions displayed on the panel, Lu Heng might have been fooled too.
Jessica nodded and turned to Lu Heng.
"Guardian, your relationship with Homelander..."
"Homelander, could you move over a little?"
A young cameraman holding a camera frowned.
"You're blocking my shot of Guardian."
The cameraman was in danger!
The studio fell silent, and everyone looked at the cameraman.
Homelander's smile remained on his face, but everyone could tell he was actually a little embarrassed.
Anyone could see that Homelander was chasing clout, using Guardian's fame to boost his own presence.
But no one dared say it—except that clueless fool.

Homelander quickly recovered and apologized as if he had not noticed anything.
"Oh, of course."
"Sorry, I didn't mean to steal Guardian's spotlight."
"I was just so excited! Sorry!"
His smile remained perfect.
But Homelander's heartbeat had already soared to 116 beats per minute.
There was no need to guess. That cameraman would be leaving the industry very soon.
"Jessica," Lu Heng suddenly said, "I think there's something that needs to be clarified."
The host wiped away a cold sweat and forced herself to stay calm.
"Y-you mean?"
"Yesterday's mission wasn't entirely my achievement."
Jessica raised an eyebrow slightly.
Homelander's gloomy emotions were interrupted, and he turned to look at Lu Heng.
"This Middle East mission could originally have been assigned to Homelander."
"With Homelander's strength, dealing with Farid would never have been difficult."
"But Homelander voluntarily gave that opportunity to me."
A subtle change came over Homelander's expression.
A huge question mark seemed to appear above his head.
Did that happen?
He had not even known the mission existed. Edgar had arranged it directly while bypassing him.
But Lu Heng's acting skills exploded.
"Homelander once told me, 'Guardian, you're still new. You need an opportunity to prove yourself. Go on this mission. I'll support you from the rear!'"
Lu Heng looked utterly sincere. He said it so convincingly that even Homelander began to believe it had happened.
The camera immediately focused on Homelander, broadcasting an enlarged image of his face to the entire world.
At the top floor of Vought Tower.
Edgar expressionlessly turned off the television.
He had deliberately pushed Guardian into the spotlight. Even the reporters had been specially arranged, all so Homelander would grow jealous of Lu Heng and the two would fall out.
Yet Guardian was arrogant and overbearing behind the scenes, looking down on everyone, but his ability to put on a show in public was maxed out?
Were cheats enabled or something?!
"Haha, that's right!"
Homelander sat back down on the sofa and put an arm around Lu Heng's shoulders.
"I did say that! Guardian is new and needs opportunities. As the team's big brother, it's my responsibility to look after newcomers!"
This time, Homelander's smile came from the heart.
Guardian was too awesome!
Now that was a true brother. When one got rich, they'd bark for each other!
The panel flashed a notification:
[Key Character: Homelander — Emotional change: satisfaction, surprise, respect] [Ability Points gained: +445]
Lu Heng began stacking the reward pool.
"And it wasn't just this one time. At Vought, Homelander has always looked after me."
"He's like the team's big brother, always giving opportunities to others and keeping the hard parts for himself."
"Honestly, I think Homelander is like a candle."
Jessica played along. "A candle? Why do you say that?"
"Because he burns himself to light up others." Lu Heng patted Homelander on the shoulder. "He shares his own radiance with every one of us, allowing us to stand beneath the spotlight, while he silently supports the entire team from behind!"
"Homelander has bled for Vought and fought for Vought. He is the true soul of Vought!"
"Vought shines because of Homelander!"
"Homelander is Vought's only true hero!"
After Lu Heng finished speaking, he took the lead in applauding.
The studio staff seemed moved as well and immediately rose to their feet in applause.
With her years of hosting experience, Jessica squeezed out two tears from the corners of her eyes.
"Homelander, what do you think of Guardian's assessment of you?"
Homelander sat on the sofa, too excited to contain himself.
The whole world was watching this livestream, and every word Guardian had just said had made him look incredible.
That's right, he was Vought's greatest contributor!
