Shion serves as the Land of Demons' shrine maiden. Elderly priests, shrine guards, and their captain Ashitaba treat her with formal reverence. Before the crisis, her pale violet eyes and demeanor are described as hollow, numb, and indifferent, shaped by years of foreseeing terrible futures. 114 116

She reinforces Mōryō's seal at an ancient shrine using a sealing method distinct from conventional techniques. The ritual is shielded by a barrier that prevents Ning Xue from observing it with the Byakugan. 115

Her prophecy changes for the first time when a guard survives a death she had foreseen. Though this gives her hope, she initially struggles to believe fate can truly be changed. 116 121
