The Terrifying Missions (You Know...)

Xiao Hen recovered from the dizziness of weightlessness and looked around, surveying his surroundings.

This was a forest with fresh air. Towering, thick emerald trees stood throughout the woods, while leafy vines entwined their trunks, their tendrils hanging down like weeping willows and swaying gently in the breeze.

Clear birdsong echoed through the forest, drawing nearer from afar. Xiao Hen saw a palm-sized bird with jade-green wings fly past. A tuft of red feathers crowned its head, and as it streaked through the air, it left behind a flash of green light.

Xiao Hen followed the wooden path through the forest, vigilantly watching his surroundings while checking himself over. Bees occasionally buzzed past him, along with butterflies patterned in strange designs.

"Shuttle, where's the Main Quest?"

Xiao Hen asked.

"Main Quest generating... Side Quest generating..."

"Main Quest: Obtain the Dragon Crystal of Crag Canyon within one year."

"Side Quest: Destroy the Dark Portal within one year."

"What?!"

Xiao Hen's face changed drastically when he saw the missions. What kind of tasks were these?

The Dark Portal was the only passage through which the Orcs could enter the human world. Gul'dan surely valued it immensely. How could it possibly be so easy to destroy?

And what the hell was this Dragon Crystal of Crag Canyon?

Was there even such a Plot in the Warcraft movie?

"Shuttle, get out here!" Xiao Hen trembled with rage. Wasn't this sending him straight to his death?

"Explain to me what the hell is going on with these missions," Xiao Hen asked grimly.

"Host, the Dark Portal is the key to victory or defeat in the war between humans and Orcs. Because of your arrival, the Plot has already changed. This world's human Guardian has been completely controlled by Fel Energy. The ending of this Warcraft World will no longer be the same as in the movie. Guardian Medivh can no longer close the Dark Portal, so this task must be completed by you."

Hearing the Shuttle's explanation, Xiao Hen rubbed his forehead. Could his arrival really cause consequences like this? Was it really that absurd? Or was the Shuttle deliberately screwing with him?

"And what about that Giant Dragon's Dragon Crystal? Was that part of the original Plot? I don't remember it being there!" Xiao Hen asked in a low voice. A Giant Dragon—although Giant Dragons of the Western world were much weaker than the divine dragons of the East, that depended on who was facing them. Xiao Hen was strong now, but only compared to ordinary people. Could he really compare with Giant Dragons and the like?

"Host, the energy required to repair the Shuttle is the Elemental Power in this world's atmosphere. A Dragon Crystal is a seed that can activate this world's Elemental Power, and it must be obtained. Alternatively, you can kill Gul'dan and seize his Fel Energy, or drain the Energy Pool within Medivh's mage tower. That would achieve the same result!"

This... Xiao Hen froze. So this was actually the best option?

"I'll find a human settlement first, ask about the roads, and figure out the rest later... Dark Portal, Dragon Crystal—what bullshit missions to give me!" Xiao Hen shook his head and quickened his pace, sprinting rapidly through the forest.

Suddenly, something sprang out ahead and blocked the woodland path.

Xiao Hen stopped and fixed his gaze on the road ahead. It was a massive silver-gray wolf. Wasn't that a mount of the Orc Frostwolf Clan?

On Earth, it would certainly count as huge, but in this Warcraft World, it was merely an ordinary beast—far too weak to be a mount for those massive Orcs.

"Why do you look so much like one? And you're blocking my path too?" Xiao Hen shook his head as he watched the silver-gray wolf paw at the ground, bare its fangs, and snarl at him. Then he took the Star Chasing Bow and Back Armor Arrows from his Storage Space, drew the bow, nocked an arrow, and completed the motion in one smooth movement.

The arrow shot out at incredible speed, but the silver-gray wolf was no tame Earth beast. Carnivores in this world were far fiercer. It leaped nimbly aside and dodged Xiao Hen's arrow.

Pretty agile. Xiao Hen drew another arrow and set it on the Star Chasing Bow's string. He pulled with force until the bow formed a full moon, stared intently at the silver-gray wolf, and released his grip.

Bang!

This time, the silver-gray wolf was finally hit. The arrow pierced its abdomen, its powerful momentum punching straight through the wolf's body. The arrows made with modern manufacturing techniques were indeed of excellent quality.

Xiao Hen walked up to the giant wolf and inspected its back. There were no traces of it having been used as a mount. It really was not a mount of the Frostwolf Clan.

He continued onward. The quiet atmosphere of the dense forest made Xiao Hen even more alert. In a place like this, a terrifying monster with formidable strength might emerge at any moment.

Whoosh!

Bang! A black shadow lunged at him. Xiao Hen fired the arrow in his hand, and in the distant tree, a three-meter-long Spotted Snake was nailed firmly to the trunk. The Spotted Snake had dropped from a branch in an attempt to ambush Xiao Hen, only to be killed by a single arrow. His battle instincts made his reactions countless times faster than an ordinary person's, and he handled such surprise attacks with ease.

"Hm? Cooking smoke?" Xiao Hen's eyes suddenly lit up. He raised his head and looked at the sky ahead, where wisps of smoke curled upward.

"I found a human settlement. Thank goodness!" Xiao Hen rejoiced inwardly and hurried forward.

However, when Xiao Hen emerged from the forest, what met his eyes was a miserable scene.

Human corpses lay scattered before ruined houses. The ground was littered with severed limbs and broken arms. Among the bodies were even infants of very young age. Xiao Hen could still see the ignorant, confused expressions on their faces, along with a trace of incomprehension, as though they did not understand why they had died.

Flames devoured the ruined homes, and thick smoke rose into the sky. This was the "cooking smoke" Xiao Hen had seen earlier.
